Online Golf Lessons

As you can tell by this list, learning the game can come in many shapes and sizes, so to speak. No matter your learning style, you will be able to find which online golf lessons best fits you an dwill help you to lower yoru scores in one or more of the formats listed below...

Golf Webinars -

Golf WebinarMany people are confused about the term “Webinar” and so they have not participated in a “Golf Webinar” before. So what is it? Really it is just a seminar placed or shown on the web. Web + seminar =webinar! To attend a webinar you would click an invitation link to be present for the webinar. Once inside and figuratively seated, you can interact with the host by asking questions and they will respond directly to you! This is how we can help you from literally anywhere! Here are some of the topics we cover in the Wireless Golf Coach Webinars:

Ladies Golf Instruction –

Females have many options to learn how to play the game. It is no secret that females are physically built differently than males. Being much more flexible than males, the fundamentals of the full swing, short game and putting are the same. However, they must be addressed a little differently. In addition, they tend to play the game for much different reasons than men. The majority of ladies like to play the game due to its social aspect and "typically" prefer taking thier instruction in a group format.

Junior Golf Lessons -

This would be time that the junior would spend one on one with an instructor or learning in a group. The most important part is to keep it fun for the kids to keep them interested in playing. The age of the child and his or her maturity will determine what and how much information they are to be given and are ready to recieve.

Golf Lesson Online -

To improve your golf full swing it makes sense to take a golf lesson from a PGA Professional. This may be an individual golf lesson a series of golf lessons or even a golf clinic. However, you can now take personalized golf lessons online!

Golf Class -

Taking internet lessons provides you an environment that allows you to learn at your own pace or with others. It is a great way to meet other golfers around your skill level that you can play with in the future. Studies have shown that you can learn as much from a group class as you can a private lesson. You will have to be the one to determine if that is true for you or not. there is nto mistaking that this format is less expensive and has a social aspect that many players like.

Online Golf Academy -

Putting-LessonAn online academy can come in many forms. What really does an online academy have to offer? You can click on the link to improve yoru game through articles, videos, webinars and discussion. The good news is that it is literally at your finger tips via a smart phone or a tablet as long as you have an available internet connection. Great for players with a busy schedule or players that do a lot of traveling either for business or pleasure.

Golf Fitness -

With all of the newer technology, research has given us clues on how to improve our game away from the course when we are working out. Depending on your goals, to be a top level player, doing golf specific exercises and watching your nutrition is a must. Below...

Online Golf Lessons

As I have given many golf lessons online, students always want to know how to lower their scores. These students are always asking the question "How can I improve my game the quickest?" Here are the answers…

Golf Swing Lesson

You will first need to find a qualified instructor who gives lessons. This is not as easy as it may sound. It is kind of along the lines of finding an accountant or financial planner for your money. Ask better players how they learned the game and who they take lessons.

Putting Lessons

Putting practice is the fastest way to lower your scores. Yes I said it correctly. Putting practice is the fastest way to lower your scores. Learn more…

Short Game Lessons

Most professionals and better golfers will call the short game any shot within 100 yards of the hole. If you are just starting to play it may be everything within 50 yards. For our purposes, we will call it any shot that is not a full swing. This will vary from player to player.

Golf Instruction

Instruction is available for you to individually spend time with an instructor. An individual lesson will allow you to work on specifically the areas that you need to improve. The information will be much more detailed than in a group and you will improve quickly.

Golf Drills

Every player at some point and time has used drills in an attempt to improve their swing and their scores. There are various types of drills. You will wan to be selective of which drills that you use as they may or may not go with the swing philosohphy that you are trying to implement. Long story short...Just because it has worked for someone else, it does not mean that it is the answers to your woes as well.

Mobile Golf Instruction

Internet Golf LessonsWhy should you be limited to learning? With today’s technology, you can take your golf lessons anywhere! With a laptop, IPad or cell phone and a connection, you can learn to play the game at your own pace and have personalized lessons while you are standing on the driving range.

Putting Drills

I say it ALL OF THE TIME…the quickest way to lower your score is to improve your putting. One way to do that is to use putting drill to improve your stroke. Here are a few different types of drills that different players use:

Golf Tips

To improve your golf full swing, it makes sense to get golf tips from a PGA Professional. This may be an individual golf lesson a series of golf lessons or even a golf clinic. Concentrate on the fundamentals of the full swing.

Beginner Golf Lesson

Finding a beginner clinic will place you with other new golfers who are at the same skill level and can turn into your new playing partners. Typically during a group clinic, the instructor will give a presentation to the group and then allow everyone to spread out on the range tee and will spend some individual time with each student.

Golf Swing Instruction

After finding the best instructor for you, taking an individual lesson is the best way to learn the game. In an individual lesson, you are one on one with your instructor and he or she can give you his or her undivided attention. You should leave the appointment with a plan that will get you through until the next time that you meet. The plan should include goals that you agree with, physically can do and are measureable.

How to Play Golf

When first learning how to play the game, I would suggest taking thirty minute lessons and not an hour lesson. The reason why is that you will be hearing a lot of new information and you will only be able to process so much of it. You need to take it in spurts and digest it, work on it and come back and see if you really understand the material or information given to you.

Mental Golf Lessons -

The mental game is a very important part of the game. Many amateurs, including beginners, can lower their handicap by simply improving their mental game. You do not always have to hit the ball over a bunker. The best play for your (depending on your skill level) could be to play away from the hole location and go around the bunker. Remember... the end goal is to take a few as strokes as possible. This is by far the most overlooked part of the game.

Fundamentals Of A Chip Shot

No matter whether you are playing junior golf or the PGA Tour, the short game can make or break any round of golf and you need to know the fundamentals of a chip shot. We, including tour players, all have bad ball striking days. Even the players on the PGA Tour do not hit every green in every round. However, knowing how to properly chip the ball will allow us to shoot lower scores even though we have missed the green.

Many golfers have become frustrated around the green and are not sure on what they should do. This leads to making a bad decision on how to best proceed to get the ball into the hole. The definition of a chip shot is simply to have the ball roll on the ground longer that it is in the air. Allowing the ball to get on the ground as soon as possible and run to the hole is typically the best percentage play. You can improve your chipping by following these three easy to follow tips:

1. Proper Ball Position
Since we are trying to keep the golf ball low while chipping, we will want to de-loft or take the loft off of the golf club during the stroke. As we take our stance, this will be easy to do as we point our back foot directly at the ball. This will be the right foot for right-handed players. In addition, it is important that your hands are closer to the target than your zipper. Remember, we are attempting to take loft off of the club face so the grip of the club will be closer to the target than the club head.

2. Proper Weight Placement
Now that you have the ball placed off of your back foot, you should have more weight on your leg closer to the hole. For right-handed golfers, this simply means that you will have more weight on your left foot or left leg. The question of how much will vary from player to player. With that being said, it will probably end up somewhere between 60-70% on your forward foot. Think about it, any good golf shot that is struck has more weight on the forward foot than the back. Now you can simply make a putting stroke…yes…a putting stroke to chip the ball.

3. Proper Finish Position
Once you have made your stroke, the grip of the club should be past your front leg. Most amateurs get in trouble because they flip or pop at a chip shot and the grip or handle of the club never gets past their forward leg. This means that they have hit the shot on the bottom of the club face and controlling distance will be a BIG challenge for someone who cannot hit a chip shot in the center of the club face.

An easy way to monitor this is to count to three very slowly once you have reached the finish position. This will give you time to evaluate your finish and improve it quickly. To be a consistent chipper, you must learn to make contact on the same spot on the club face.

Following the above tips chipping will become easier for you. The good news is that you can have fun practicing alone or by making up games with your friends. Practicing either way will lower your scores and you will find yourself moving up the leader board in your event!

Chipping Lesson - How To Properly Chip A Golf Ball

Are you tired of looking like you do not even know how to play golf even though you just missed the green? Sounds like you could use a quick and easy online chipping lesson. So what exactly is chipping? The definition in English is a shot that travel longer on the ground than it spends in the air. You do not need to be in the fringe to execute this shot. You can be farther off of the green and still use a chip since it determined by how far it rolls versus how long it is in the air. So to stop the madness, use these three simple tips to not only look like a golfer but get the ball in the hole faster to lower your scores:

Since we are trying to keep the golf ball low while chipping, we will want to de-loft or take the loft off of the golf club during the stroke. The good news is that we can pre-set this position. As we take our stance, this will be easy to do as we point our back foot directly at the ball. This will be the right foot for right-handed players. In addition, it is important that your hands are closer to the target than your zipper. I know it feels weird. Remember, we are attempting to take loft off of the club face so the grip of the club will be closer to the target than the club head.

Now to make it feel even more different, we will talk about weight placement. Since you have the ball placed off of your back foot, you should have more weight on your leg closer to the hole. This is opposite of what would feel “natural” I know. Now you can simply make a putting stroke. This means your wrists should not break and to use fancy teacher talk will remain one lever.

Once you have made your stroke, the grip of the club should be past your front leg. Most amateurs get in trouble because they flip or pop at a chip shot and the grip or handle of the club never gets past their forward leg. They have broken their one lever into a two lever system. This usually means that they have hit the shot on the bottom of the club face and controlling distance will be a BIG challenge.

Count to three very slowly once you have reached the finish position is an easy way to monitor your positions. This will give you time to evaluate your finish and improve it quickly. To be a consistent chipper, you must learn to make contact on the same spot on the club face.

Ladies Golf Academy

Since online golf instruction has become popular, ladies golf academies have emerged as a great way for women to learn the game in a friendly safe environment. A ladies golf academy hosts ladies only events such as online golf webinars or online golf clinics. These two names are interchangeable. No matter your skill level, it is a great place to meet other ladies, network and discuss golf. Topics discussed but are not limited to are: Fundamentals of the golf swing, short game and putting. Rules and etiquette (if you are not playing in a tournament…DO NOT stress over this! It is about having fun!) We will even talk about how to keep your husband from trying to teach you the game that he cannot play!

We are often asked...What are the benefits to an online ladies golf academy? We thought we would provide just a few benefits of a women's gofl acadmey. Here you go...

Privacy – Many ladies do not take golf instruction because they do not want to “embarrass” themselves in front of a golf professional or a group of people at a ladies golf class. A ladies online golf academy allows you to get the information that you need without being face to face with the expert in the game or a group of others. You may attend a ladies golf webinar and simply watch. Typically there is a question and answer period at some point during the program and even if you do not feel like asking your questions someone else will ask it. It is one of the great things about group golf classes. Depending on the format used by the instructor, you may be able to simply type your question in to a chat box. If you have a question, there is almost 100% chance that someone else is wondering the same exact question.

Convenient – An ladies online golf school brings you convenience that does not come with a traditional golf school. Yes, many webinars are scheduled and are live. However, if you are not available at that time, simply watch the replay of the webinar at your leisure and on your time schedule. This also allows you to start and stop the webinar as needed to make sure that you understand the concept being discussed.

Learning Styles - A ladies golf academy will produce many types of information. This is beneficial as we all have different learning styles. Some of us prefer to read golf articles while others prefer to watch videos and yet others prefer to learn through the experience of golf drills. You already know how you like to learn so you can choose the format that best suites you and your learning style.

Mobile – Not only are lessons from a ladies online golf academy private, convenient and can be adapted to your learning style, they are also mobile! We all live with our smart phone devices and learning to play golf with your IPhone, Android phone or IPad in your hand would be just like how you learn many other things. The great part is that you can take your smart phone or tablet right to the driving range or practice putting green with you and measure the results right away!

Golf Clinic

Many players will attend a golf clinic when they are first learning how to play the game. Once it is over, they think that they have checked that box and there is no need to return. This is simply not true. The golf profession has become hung up on creating new golfers and, honestly, we are pretty good at it. The challenge becomes that once someone is introduced to the game, what do they do and where do they go from there?

There are many types of clinics available to all skill levels of golfers. Just because you have attended a clinic does not mean that you still cannot get good information on a second go around. Below are just few examples of these types of golf classes:

Online Golf Clinic – This may come in the form of a golf webinar. This format will vary depending on the instructor but it still can hold many benefits for you. Many golfers are too embarrassed to attend “live” lessons, as they are afraid that they will look silly. By learning through an online format, you may type your question in to the chat log and nobody will ever know who you are! You can still get great information and many times it is recorded so you can watch at your convenience wherever you are or as many times as you want.

Ladies Golf Clinic – If you are new to a city or new to a club, this can be a great way for you to get involved and meet other ladies that are looking to play or learn to play golf. This format is done a multitude of different ways depending on the size of the group golf lesson. Typically, the instructor will give a short presentation at the beginning of the session and then allow the group to spread out to work on the information while they come around and offer individual advice.

Junior Golf Clinic – This format of junior golf lessons is a popular summertime event for many youth and is how many kids are introduced to the game. Depending on the age of your child, you will need to ask a few questions such as 1. How are the skill levels broken up? Is it strictly by age or is it done on skill level? 2. What is the student/teacher ratio?  3. Does my child want to attend? This last question seems to be the one that rarely gets asked by the parents. You know how your kids are if they do not want to be somewhere.

Short Game Clinic – This format is another that you can take time and time again and just keep learning as you can always stand to improve your short game. Again, the format will vary, but many will provide you with a new wedge as it will be included in the price. You should be able to be properly fitted for a new wedge during the clinic or they will give you recommendations for what type of wedge and bounce will work best for you. If you do not know what bounce is, then you need to attend a short game school and you will see your scores improve.

Beginner Golf Clinic – Again, if you have already been through a beginner golf lesson, you may want to ask some questions of the staff. Will it be the exact same format? If it is, that is ok because it is doubtful that you received and retained everything that was put in front of you the first time around. Ask them what you could get out of it by attending a second time. If they cannot answer that then I would move on to another instructor.

Online Golf School

Online Golf School

An online golf school is a new way to learn how to play golf or simply improve your game. There are many benefits to learning the game through this type of mobile golf lessons. Obviously, being mobile, you can take them with you everywhere you go with an internet connection. If you travel at all, this becomes a no-brainer for you to improve your game. You can get the instruction when your schedule allows and you are not depending on anybody else’s schedule. Finally, internet golf lessons are not intimidating as an in person one-on-one lesson or golf class can be for some players.

Private Golf Lessons – An online golf school can provide private golf lessons. This can happen in various ways. A popular way that this instruction is provided is that you will video your golf swing. You then send it to the online golf school for an instructor will review. The instructor may use golf instruction software to draw some lines or circles as they add their voice to the lesson to return to you.  This process may take several days to happen and pricing varies depending on which online golf school that you use.

Online Golf Clinic – An online golf school can offer group golf classes via a golf webinar. The golf clinic can make many forms and will depend on what the instructor wants to do. The clinic may have a specific topic such as putting lessons or how to hit it farther. From here, there are a couple of different formats. The instructor may open the golf webinar up right away to a straight question and answer. Depending on the technology that the instructor is using, you may pop up in video to ask your question or you may simply type your question into a chat box and they will answer in order.

Many companies are watching expenses more than ever before. In turn, they have turned to virtual meetings therefore they do not have as many expenses for travel. In addition, the employees do not have to take the time away from their families. The same thing can happen for an online corporate golf clinic. By using technology and an online golf academy, you can give your employees, vendors or customers a great benefit for a very low cost.

Free Golf Lessons – Many online golf schools offer free online golf lessons. They do this to show you, the player, their theories with the hope that you like them and then pursue more information via memberships and/or online video lessons. Keep in mind that not all golf tips work for everyone. We all have different body types and learning styles. In addition, the new information needs to go along with the theory that you have been using. If it is vastly different, you may get worse and have a bad taste in your mouth.

As you can see, an online golf school can offer the same instruction as a “brick and mortar” golf academy. In addition, online golf lessons come with the benefits of being mobile, being on your own time schedule and they are not as intimidating like in-person instruction can be.

Internet Golf Lessons

You must admit that how you consume information and how you learn new tasks has changed over the last few years. Internet golf lessons allow you to also learn how to play golf using this new technology. Just a few years ago learning the game of golf through the internet or online was not available. There are many benefits to taking internet golf instruction such as:

Technical Skills Are Not Needed

With many of the available internet golf lessons you really do not need any technical skills. With most of the options, if you can surf the internet you already have the skills that you will need in order to take advantage of the online golf instruction. Currently, the definition os actually pretty broad. This simply means that you could be watching online videos answering questions about your swing or you could click on a webinar. Webinar is a new word to some and seems like a scary word but it is as about as easy as it comes.

Internet Golf Lessons

Not Intimidating Like In-Person Instruction

One of the advantages of taking internet golf lessons is that they take away a lot of the intimidation factor that occurs between many students and instructors when they meet in person. A golf lesson webinar allows you to sit back and listen to the information being presented or you can get involved by asking questions via chat or video depending on how the webinar is being administered.

More Instructors Available To You

Finding a golf instructor is an important part of every player’s progress. With golf lessons now being available online, this will allow you the player access to many instructors that you would, due to distance, would never have the chance to meet with on a regular basis. You will want to do some research to make sure that the instructor is knowledgeable and certified. In addition, make sure that the information that you are receiving makes sense with what you are trying to accomplish. Do not be afraid to ask questions to further your understanding or to understand if the info should mesh with your current information.

More Convenient For You

Using one of the many digital media to learn the game of golf, you can consume the information or learn when you are ready. Everyone’s schedule is becoming busier and busier. Implementing internet golf lessons into your golf practice always you the freedom to use it when you are ready and not on someone else’s schedule. If you travel, the good news is that you will have your golf instructor or instructions with you at all times as you just need a simple internet connection in order to make them available to you.

Cost Savings To You

Cost Saving the best news for last, usually taking golf lessons on the internet is cheaper than taking lessons in real life. Not only do you have the benefits above available to you, you should get more golf instruction per your hard earned dollar by going online to find your golf instruction. Again, just be sure to do your research on who and where the information is coming from and you should be fine!

Online Golf Academy

Internet Golf LessonsWith many people using technology to learn different tasks, they are also turning to an online golf academy to get their mobile golf instruction. Many players find that the convenience of being able to take their golf lessons anywhere works well with their schedules becoming more and more crowded. This is also true for those that travel for their job as they can now take their instructor with them no matter where they go! As long as they can grab an internet connection they can learn the game whenever they are ready! Here are just a few of the ways that players are improving their game using an online golf academy.

Free Golf Lessons
Many players look to an online golf school as they offer free online golf lessons. Although it is not always true, I am reminded of an adage that my father wore out…You get what you pay for. Make sure that the information is coming from a credible resource. As funny as this sounds, you will want to make sure that the new information or new tip matches with the current philosophy that you have for your golf swing. Mixing philosophies is a recipe for disaster and will only led to more confusion for you. With this being said, there is not one philosophy that is necessarily better than another. Finding the best one for you will depend on your learning style, body build and goals.

Online Golf Clinic
This can come in the form of a golf webinar. It is up to the instructor how this is done, however, many instructors give a short presentation to start the webinar and then open up the chat room to answer questions. Again, it will be up to the instructor, but, some golf webinars are specific to a topic. An example would be if an instructor hosts a putting webinar or a junior golf webinar.

The instructor may do the same thing but break it up into weekly segments that run say four to six weeks. This is much more like a traditional golf clinic and students seem to like that format. Another advantage of the webinars is that if you did not understand a point the instructor was trying to make you can go back and watch them when it is convenient for you to do so.

Private Online Golf Lessons
Yes some players are even taking private golf lessons via the internet now. This is done several different ways and will depend on the technology that the teacher and student both utilize. It will also depend on how familiar the golf teacher is with the student and their golf swing. Sometimes a simple phone call through Skype allows the two to talk and somewhat show what the player is feeling or what they should be feeling during the golf swing.

Taking your golf lessons from an online golf academy is becoming more and more popular because they allow many people to learn the game at their own convenience and give them access to instructors that otherwise they would not have the opportunity to work with simply due to distance.

Which Putting Drills Are The Best?

Ladies Golf Drills

Often we are asked by ladies who are just beginning to play the game what exactly is a ladies golf drill. Well, I can tell you that it is not near as scary as it sounds and does not require a power drill. If you have played other sports before, I am sure that you have participated in drills to improve certain skills and develop proper fundamentals. For instance, if you were or are a basketball player, you have completed drills to improve your shooting or dribbling. In the basketball movie Hoosiers, the new coach, Norman Dale, begins the year by running his entire practice making the players run drills to instill fundamentals in them.

When it comes to golf, improving your swing or stroke fundamentals is the key to playing better golf no matter your skill level. The professionals that you see on television every weekend still work on fundamentals during their practice. There are different drills for various parts of the game. We will give you some examples below….

Ladies Full Swing Drill

Ladies Golf DrillsPlayers of all skill levels have a challenge with keeping their balance. A great way to improve your full swing is to improve your balance. Balance works in two directions. You probably automatically thought about your balance from your toes to your heels. However, you also need proper balance from right to left as well.

Good news! This is easy to check and monitor! As you set up to the golf ball, simply sway or move your weight right and left until you find your balance in the center of your feet. Once you are comfortable with that, do the same thing from your toes to your heels. Feel centered?

Now for the big test… swing the club and hold your finish to a count of three. Be careful not to count fast as it is not 123 but more of a 1…2…3. At the end of the three, you should still have your balance and not be falling in any one direction or have more weight in your toe, heel, or to the outside of your lead foot.

Ladies Putting Drill

Putting comes down to stroking the ball so it goes on the proper line at the proper speed. These are really the only two things that you need to worry about during your stroke. An easy drill to do to make sure that you are starting the ball on the proper line is to stroke two foot putts. Sounds pretty easy does it not?

This exercise has multiple benefits. First you need to understand that the golf ball will start where the face of the putter or where you hit the ball on the club is pointed. No matter what. If it is pointed to the left, the ball will start rolling to the left of your target line and vice versa for right. Since you are only concerned about the starting direction you only need to stroke these short puts to determine what is happening. The other benefit is that no matter your skill level, you should make the vast majority of these putts which will place the positive image of the ball rolling in to the hole time and time again. Keep in mind that just because it goes into the hole, it can still start to the right or left of the intended starting line. The good news is that you will see it go into the hole and be able to make adjustments on your next stroke as needed.

Junior Golf Drills

Junior-Golf-DrillsA great way for kids to learn how to play golf is thorough junior golf drills. The challenge in this format is that junior golfers range from 2 years of age through 18 years of age. Obviously, the development, maturation and skill set widely vary in this segment of youth golfers. For the purposes of this article, the drills will be given for those youth golfers from about 13- 18 years of age.

At this age, many young golfers think that the game is all about hitting the ball as far as possible and will want to only stand on the driving range and swing as hard as they can. This is a good to an extent. However, there are more facets of the game that they have to be able to perform in order to play the game at a competitive level. Here are some of the best junior golf drills for the full swing and for putting…

Junior Full Swing Drill

As we have already stated, many juniors just want to hit the ball as far as they can. This is especially true for those that are not quite teens or are just in their teenage years and have not fully developed muscularly yet. Having been there, it is difficult to understand that the distance will come. A great junior golf drill to help them and their score is to let them swing as hard as they want to swing. Yes, I said … let them swing as hard as they want to swing… With one caveat… they MUST stay in balance. You will monitor this by having them count to three very slowly once they get into their finish position. All golfers need to create speed. This can become a very fun game for juniors that allow them to allow them to create speed while keeping their balance.

Junior Putting Drill

Many golf coaches will tell you that what separates the good players from the very good players is what happens around the hole on the putting green. In junior golf lessons, the biggest challenge that players have with making short putts is actually getting the ball started online. It is important to make sure that the putter face is equal to the right palm (for right handed golfers). Once you are sure that the putter is being held properly. Go to the hole and drop golf balls just two feet away from the hole. Yes, just two feet away and start putting. From this distance, even if you strike a bad putt, the ball more than likely will go in the hole and this will build confidence. While watching all of these balls going into the hole, you will be able to see which direction the ball is starting off of the putter face. It will not take very long at all to see the tendencies and make the adjustments that will need to be made.

There are many aspects to the game of golf. Using these two junior golf drills, they will improve their game and get closer to their goals no matter if it is to play for fun or to play competitively.

Online Golf Drills

golf-practice-drillsAt one time or another, we all have had a break down in our golf swing mechanics and have gone looking for the answer in online golf drills. Let’s face it; we were looking for anything that might change the results that we were already producing!

Although there is a lot of great internet golf drills and golf instruction to be found online, you really have to be careful as you look around. Why is that, you ask? We all know that literally anybody can post on the internet and people believe it is true... Bonjour!

No matter if you are looking for online putting drills, online full swing drills or online short game lessons; you will want to do some research on the person delivering the information. You will want to ask questions such as…Is this a PGA of America golf instructor? Are they certified by the PGA of America in golf instruction? How much experience do they have as a golf instructor?

So let’s take a minute to help you understand why it is a good idea to get these questions for answered for yourself before you start implementing all the online golf drills that you can find on the internet!

Is this a PGA of America golf instructor? Finding an instructor that is a member of the PGA of America is important because of the training and education that these individuals go through to become a member of the association. In order to become a member of the PGA of America, one must pass multiple tests on Intro of golf instruction, Intermediate golf instruction and Advanced golf instruction.

Are they certified by the PGA of America in golf instruction? Once you become a member of the PGA of America, you can then further your education by becoming certified within special areas. One of these areas is golf instruction. In order to become certified, a member must write a paper as well as test out of the subject matter. The highest level would be to find a Master professional. A Master professional has been a member for at least eight years, completed a project that can take one – two years to complete and defend their project in front of a panel of other Master Professionals.

How much experience do they have as a golf instructor? This may seem obvious; however, the roles of many golf professionals have changed over the last decade. Many professionals carry many more responsibilities than just the instructional program at the facility. The other question to ask is how much or often are they teaching now? You would want to go to a doctor that regularly saw an adequate amount of patients. I know that I would anyway!

So the next time you are looking for that online golf swing fix, you will be able to answer many of these questions and find online golf drills to help you improve your game. It will only take you doing a quick online search and you will be having all kinds of fun on the golf course as you watch your scores drop!

Golf Practice - 5 Places To Practice Your Golf Game Away From The Course

When most people think of golf practice, they automatically shift their focus to the practice area usually referred to as the driving range at a golf facility. When in actuality, there are many options to practice without going to a golf course or standalone practice facility. Here are five places that you can sharpen your skills that does not require being at a golf course…

Outside your house

Improving your golf game was popular even before Bubba Watson started creating golf courses around his house while he was growing up. Depending on the size of your property, you may be able to create short fun holes around your house. Of course you will want to take into account your current skill level and where windows are located as you design you masterpiece. The great part about this is that it allows you to use your imagination not only developing the golf course but while playing it as well.

Inside your house

Checking the heights of your ceilings will determine what you are actually able to do with your full swing with a golf club inside your house. If you have room, it is a great place to use mirrors and check positions and match them with what you see in your minds eye and contrast that to what you are actually feeling.

Many golfers have putting greens or putting mats in side of their house. You can buy a putting mat that is very inexpensive or you can really spend as much as you want to spend depending on the experience that you want to have. The fastest way to lower your scores is to improve your putting stroke. By purchasing even a low end putting mat, you can work on putting mechanics and not have to drive to the golf course.

At work

Of course this will depend on what you do for a living. If you have your own office you can install a putting green in your office or use a roll up putting mat to give you extra golf practice time during your lunch break or to clear your head in the middle of the afternoon. It is understandable if this is not feasible for you. However, doing some golf fitness stretches may be another idea that you could use to improve your game away from the course.

In the car

As many of us sit in heavy traffic during the long daily commute to our job, there are different options to listen to than just the local radio or sports talk show. You can listen to tapes and/or cds as you make your commute. With newer technology, you can select one of many golf podcasts that are available. Most are free and you will want o use the same criteria when selecting a good podcast as you would to find a golf instructor.

At the gym

The gym is a great place to work on your golf game. Many gyms offer classes for various forms of yoga and similar classes that will help you with your flexibility as well as your core strength. As you look for golf exercises or a personal golf trainer, these are the two facets that you will want to work on and address in your fitness plan.

Golf Practice Drills

Students tend to learn in three different ways. Some students use golf practice drills so they can get and understand the feel of what is supposed to be happening during the motion. Others are able to simply hear instructions and change their motion. These students are classified as audio learners. Lastly, there are students that want to watch a movement and try to mock it themselves. As most of us already know, these are visual learners.

There are many golf practice drills and you must select one that is correct to fix the challenge in your golf swing. Let’s be honest, no matter how good or bad your current swing is, making it better usually comes down to executing the fundamentals of golf.

Below you will find some common golf drills for practice that you can use to get your game back on track:

Full Swing Golf Practice Drill

It really does not matter you skill level, when the full swing gets out of whack it typically means that are losing your balance somewhere during the motion. You need to understand that in the golf swing balance happens in two directions. You need to pay attention if you are in balance side to side or left to right. This is usually not that big of a deal and even beginners will find of roll their eyes at that one. However, you will really want to pay attention to the balance in your feet from front to back or toes to heels. At address or when setting up to the golf ball, you should be able to find good golf posture with you pockets behind your heels, able to wiggle your toes and put them back on the ground. Too many amateurs will get too much weight towards their toes through impact and not much good happens from there. A good way to check your overall balance is to take a swing and be able to hold your finish for a SLOW count of 1-2-3. Your weight should be evenly distributed over your front or target side foot.

Putting Golf Practice Drill

Players of all skill levels get into funks where they have a hard time holing or making short putts. Most of them look to their mechanics to find what is ailing them. If you are having a difficult time making short putts, find a flat hole location or one that is slightly uphill but the ball will not be breaking or turning from side to side. Place a tee two feet away from the hole. Yes…just two feet and start putting. The face of the putter is much more important on shorter putts than is speed. Being this close to the hole, you are able to see where the ball is coming off of the putter face and the vast majority should still go in the hole. So, not only are you learning to put the ball on the correct line you will be growing your confidence as you watch the ball go in the hole time and time again.

Goals For Golf Practice

Having goals for any practice session is a very often overlooked point of why you are spending time on the driving range or practice putting green and not improving. If you go into your practice time with no outlined goals for golf practice, congratulations as you will accomplish just that…nothing. You should realize that you need a purpose for your practice or you will become very bored very quickly and will not see any changes in your game and your scores will not go down. Here are four purposes for golf practice.

Skill Development

Many of you are probably saying … “No Kidding.” Hang with me here. Skill development refers to you creating a new skill that you did not already have. Maybe as a new player, you have a death grip on the club through the impact zone and this is not allowing you to release the club properly. You are trying to develop the new skill of releasing the club through the impact zone. Depending on your learning style, there are various ways to learn this new skill. Some of you may prefer to visualize the clubface through impact while others may find a golf drill or a golf training aid more helpful.

Skill Maintenance/Retention

We all know that in order to play this game a high level, you have to do it. As the old saying goes, if you do not use it you will lose it. This is one of the reasons that you will see better players on the driving range that will still lay clubs down or use alignment sticks to make sure that they are accomplishing what they want to do. Your body does not feel the same from day to day and your perceptions can change as well. No matter what level the student is, it is always interesting to find out where they think that they are aiming because it rarely matches exactly.

Skills Transfer

This sounds pretty complicated but it really is not. It simply means that you will practice the same way that you plan to play. You will want o simulate playing the golf course in your mind and go through all of your pre-shot routines prior to hitting every shot. This may include picking out your target, gathering the proper yardage, checking wind, checking lie and any other gyrations that you use in your pre-shot routine. Like on the golf course, you should select a different target on every shot. You can simply simulate hitting to a fairway by selecting two trees in the distance or a landing zone between two greens. From there, select a target green for your approach shot, just like on the golf course.

Enjoyment Or Recreation

The great part about golf is that you create your own goals. Maybe you just want to get outside and enjoy the weather or you just want to go to the driving range to spend some time with some friends. I know this is true for myself, especially when spring first hits and in late fall, my favorite times of the year. Sometimes you just need to use your golf practice sessions as pure relaxation. That is just fine!

Golf Putting Drills

Although there is discussion about which element is more important, driving the ball or putting the ball, statistically, putting is the most important part of the game. Golf putting drills will help you shoot lower scores. Many players will say that you can hit one bad drive and make the stroke up with a good putt. However, if you hit one bad putt, the stroke is gone and you cannot “make it up.” No matter your handicap, you will shoot lower scores if you can improve your putting.

Putting is the most vital aspect within the game of golf and no professional has ever played a good round of golf putting poorly…ever. There is nothing more frustrating than playing a decent round of golf only to end the day with a lousy score because of the number of missed putts.

Now that you have delegated time to practice your putting, how can you best use your practice time to improve your putting? Since putting is dependent on distance and line you will need to decide which one needs more works. Hint…more than likely it is getting the ball on the correct line. At worst getting the ball to start on the correct line will enable you to make more of the shorter putts that you feel you “should” make. Here is a couple of golf putting drills to make sure that you are on the right line (I know that is a bad pun haha).

Two-Foot Drill

This may sound too easy but it has help many of our students of all skill levels. Yes, even the better players. Drop a mark two feet away from the hole. You will want to find a level putt or a putt that goes slightly uphill and begin to make putts! Everyone can make it form two feet…right? Well, most of the time. No matter your skill level, you want to take away two things from this drill. First, it is an easy putt so you will (should) keep seeing the ball go into the hole. This should boost your confidence. Second, even though the ball is going in the hole, are you holing the putt in the center of the cup? More than likely, it will not. From two feet you can get away with this but take it out to even just four or six feet and the same stroke could produce a miss.

Tee Drill

If you are struggling with the two foot drill, then you should try the tee drill. Take two tees and place one on the outside of your putter or toe of your putter and the other on the inside of the putter also known as the heel of the putter. You will give yourself a little room on each side depending on your skill level. As you take a putting stroke, stop the putter at the tees to evaluate where the face of the putter is pointing. It will directly relate to the direction that you were missing putts using the two foot drill.

Putting Drills

Putting Drill

I say it ALL OF THE TIME…the quickest way to lower your score is to improve your putting. One way to do that is to use a putting drill to improve your stroke. Here are a few different types of drills that different players use:

Golf Putting Drills - Now that you have delegated time to practice your putting, how can you best use your practice time to improve your putting? Since putting is dependent on distance and line you will need to decide which one needs more works. Hint…more than likely it is getting the ball on the correct line

Putting Drills For Beginners – Some beginners are resistant to using drills but what they need to realize is that players of all levels do drills. If you are a little embarrassed to use one… simply get over it because players on every single tour are using them. They are great o provide you with structured learning and obtaining feelings that you may not get otherwise.

Putting Drill

Fundamental Putting Drills – No matter what you are doing in life, there are always fundamentals that must be followed in order to obtain the goal that you are after. Golf is no different. The good news is that with the use of drills, you will gain the feeling and awareness needed to effectively perform the stroke when playing.

Putting Practice Drills – Practice does not always have to be boring! Many drills can be turned into games. This will not only help keep your attention, but it will also put you in some pressure situations that you will face on the golf course as well.

Putting Drills Video – When appropriate, having video of you doing a drill can be good to show you the difference from what is happening when you are left to your own efforts. Be sure to keep on task with what you are looking for and do not all of a sudden create other challenges. For example, many amateurs are worried about how they look on video and not on how the stroke went. It is true and it is not just the ladies.

Putting Drills with Tees – As soon as you say the word drill, many people see themselves being bound up in some type of contraption. This is not always the case. You can use something as simple and as free as tees to help you create the putting drill that you need to improve your stroke.

Mobile Putting Drills – These drills are plentiful as you can find them in barrels on some golf websites. You can use your phone or IPad to come up with these drills to answer the putting woes that you may be experiencing.

Putting Stroke Drills – It is called a stroke. If they wanted to call it a hit…they would have. With the proper drill you can actually feel a stroke instead of a hit or a pop. With today’s maintenance practices, the ball must be stroked to allow it to roll. Creating a consistent stroke will also allow you to contact the ball with the same place on the face of the putter which will result in better distance control.

One Handed Putting Drill - Many players struggle with getting a putt started on the correct line. A very simple one-handed putting drill has help many students get the feeling and master the mechanics of what is to happen in a consistent putting stroke.

Beginners Golf Guide

Beginner Golf GuideMany new players are looking for a beginners golf guide to help them start playing the great game. Many find just trying to play the sport is difficult within itself and they have not even tried to swing at a ball…yet.

Below you will find many tricks and tips that will help you navigate through the wealth of information for beginner golfers. We will simply list a topic and say a few words about it. A link on a phrase will take you to more information on the particular phrase.

Before you fully commit yourself to the game, you may want to just try it out without completely diving into the pool so to speak. I understand and do that with new activities that I am interested in as well. There are always to get a little taste before you buy the cow. Again, reading this beginning golf guide before you dive in can save you time and money.

Golf Equipment

Who wants to spend a lot of money to try out a new activity? Not me! When I go bowling, I use a house ball at the bowling alley. When I go roller skating, I rent my skates at the rink. Why would I spend money on new skates for something that I am not sure that I want to keep doing? I think the same is true for golf. If you are just learning how to play the game, many facilities and/or instructors will l loan you clubs from either their lost and found or rental sets to get you to come out to the course. I have personally done this with many students that were just starting. Just ask them. If they are not willing to help get your started, then it is time to find another facility or another instructor.

Buy One Club At A Time

Opposed to popular belief, you do not need a full set of clubs to start playing the game. In fact, if you are just starting, I would suggest against it. Manufactures will now let you purchase one club at a time. The minimum purchase would depend on how you are planning to “try out” the game. If you enjoy just hitting balls on the driving range then you will only need one club (suggest a 7 or 9 iron) If you are going to go onto the course I suggest a 3 wood, 5 or 6 iron, 7 or 8 iron and a pitching wedge (PW) and a putter. I highly recommend that you begin by taking lessons or learning how to play the game from on or around the greens by putting on the greens and moving just off of the green with a pitching wedge. As you get better, you can add clubs to your set. Most players, as they start, tend to hit many of their clubs the same distance just because they do not know how to use the club properly yet.

Get A Putter That Fits You

I know this sounds expensive but it does not have to be by following these simple steps. 1. Find a putter that you like the way it looks. Trust me, as you start “test driving” putters, you will wonder how you could ever make a putt with some while other putters look like you will never miss! 2. Make sure the putter head sits flat to the ground. If it does not, you may have to manipulate the putter just to get a short putt to roll on the correct starting line. On the same note, you want the putter shaft to point directly up your forearm farthest away from the hole. 3. Make sure that you can take your grip and your right palm (right-handed) is equal to the putter face. 4. As you stroke a few putts with it, how does it feel? Is it too heavy or light? Does it feel too hard or soft when you make contact? Is it the right length?

Get Golf Lessons

Instruction comes in many forms today. The format that you enjoy the most will depend on your goals, personality and learning style. Here are a few of the available formats:

Private Golf Lessons

You can go the traditional method and take a private lesson from a professional. With a private lesson, you do receive one on one attention from the instructor, they are typically more expensive and some players are very intimidated by this format.

Golf Class or Clinic

This format is the way many players are first introduced to the game as it is less expensive. Typically, you will get a presentation of the fundamental to be worked on at the beginning of class and then a small amount of one on one time with the teacher during the session. Many people play the game for social reasons and this is a great format for them to learn the game.

Online Golf Academy

If you are intimidated by being face to face with a professional and you think you might look silly in front of a group, a new way to take instruction is through an online academy. You can get the information anywhere or anytime as long as you have an internet connection. You can also progress at your own pace and review material as needed.

Finding A Golf Teacher

Finding an instructor is going to be like finding many of the other professionals that you use such as doctors lawyers or accountants. If you know some others that are already talking lessons, ask them about their experiences with their current teacher. In addition, don’t be scared to “interview” them or ask questions about their method or how they conduct a lesson before you get started. Many of the questions that you should ask prior to taking a lesson are outlined in the previous link.

Rules of Golf

Even after you have been playing for some time, the rules can seem daunting and overwhelming at times. I have good news for you though… since you are just learning and not playing in an organized tournament or for business, you can make up your own rules to make it fun. One of the rules that I tell my new players to break is go ahead and put a tee in the ground…anywhere that you have a full swing. If this allows you to get the ball up in the air and have fun playing a casual round then who cares!
Use this beginner’s golf guide and start to enjoy the great game today. If you have any other questions feel free to contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. !

PGA Golf Lessons

You are either here because you are looking to learn how to play golf or you need some PGA golf lessons to help you cure that wicked slice, duck hook, shank, top…well you get the picture. Many players think that all golf instructors are created equal. That is not exactly true. Like other professions, there is a way for a professional to separate themselves through education.

Often we get questions about taking PGA golf lessons. Below are the most common questions that we get and some helpful information to get you started…

Are there different levels of golf instructors?
Obviously there are different levels of golf instructors as they will vary in experience as well as how they have educated themselves within the world of golf instruction. Within the PGA of America, there are different levels of membership. We will start with the highest rank and move down the list.

PGA Master Professional

Once a Class A Professional has to have been a member for at least eight years and completed the requirements to become a Certified Professional, they can opt to become a Master Professional. To become a Master Professional, the professional must submit a project that is reviewed by other Master Professionals. In addition, they need to give a presentation and defend their project in front of a panel of Master Professionals. The process typically takes a couple of years and currently there are less than 200 in the US.

Certified PGA Professional

As a Class A Professional, the professional has the chance to further their education in golf instruction by becoming Certified by the PGA of America in golf instruction. At this writing, the professional must write a paper that is overseen by a Master Professional as well as pass a written test on golf instruction. There are currently just over 400 PGA of America Certified Professionals in Golf Instruction in the US.

Class A PGA Professional

A Class A Member has completed all of the membership requirements and education testing.
Apprentice Professional – An apprentice professional is working towards PGA of America membership. They are required to work for two years, pass all of the required testing as well as pass a Player’s Ability Test (PAT).

How do I find a good golf instructor for PGA golf lessons?
Now that you understand the various levels of professionals within the PGA, you can find a good golf instructor and decide which one will best fit you depending on your goals. Some of you may just be beginning and are looking to have some fun while gaining some exercise while others are looking to play tournament golf and are looking to shoot the lowest possible scores.

To find a good golf instructor, go about it just as you would to find a doctor, accountant or real estate agent. Start by asking other friends or golfers that you know who are reaching the same goals that you want to reach. You can also resort to how you tend to find the majority of your information and head to your favorite search engine and start searching. One of the challenges with this is that many of the golf instructors that will come up in the search results may not be in your area.

How are PGA golf lessons offered?
Private Golf Lessons – This is the typical way that most people think of when they think of learning the game. The best part of taking a private golf lesson is that it is private. You are there with the professional and their focus is solely on you and trying to help you. This type of a lesson will become a necessity, if your goals are to be a tournament player. However, this is not for everybody. This format is intimidating to many players, especially newer players as they do not feel comfortable as an expert in the game of golf is watching them and getting ready to critique their swing.

Group Golf Clinic – If you have social golf goals, learning the game through a group golf clinic will be perfect for you. Although the format may vary, the instructor will give a short presentation to start the class and then the group will break up into individual stations to work on the message in the presentation. The instructor will then visit each participant and help them as best they can. You could be thinking that it does not seem like you would get very much instruction in this format. You will not receive as much as you would from a private lesson but that fact is offset by the lower cost of a golf group clinic. In addition, you will meet others that have the same interests that you do. You just may strike up a friendship that ends up being a life-long golfing partner!

Golf School – A golf school can be offered as a half day school all of the way up to a five day school. Of course, the format of every school will be different but they are usually pretty heavy on the golf instruction end to the point the participants wear themselves out since they are not used to practicing that much.

Online Golf Lessons - Online golf lessons are becoming a more and more accepted way to learn how to play golf or improve your game. Since literally anybody can put anything online, you will want to do the proper research with the information from above. With this being said, there are many great options to take online golf lessons. You will have access to a greater number of teachers, you can take them when you want to take them and you can take them wherever you are as long as you have an internet connection.

What should you ask before the taking PGA golf lessons?
No matter wheether you are looking for beginning golf lesson or looking to take lessons from an online golf academy, any instructor worth learning from will be more than happy to meet in person, on the phone or swap emails about their teaching style. You should ask about how the lesson(s) will be structured and what they expect from you during your lesson. After a brief interview, they should be able to confirm that you are taking instruction in the correct format and create a plan to reach some short term golf goals in which you both agree. In addition, the cost of the instruction should be very clear to you as well.

You should already know which type of learning style best suits you. Can you just be told something and change your swing? Do you like to see someone else do it and then you mimic it? Do you like to feel how the motion is supposed to feel through drills? There is no right or wrong answer to this but you will want to convey the answer to your instructor as this may change how the instructor will help you achieve your goals.

What to do next…
You now understand the various levels of PGA Golf Professionals, have a few good leads on who you would like to learn from, have a good idea which format that you would like to take your instruction and have asked questions before taking the lessons. Now what? Schedule your lesson, sign up for the group or get your free online golf lesson membership and get started!

Smart Phone Golf Lessons

Everyone is using technology in ways they simply were not even just a few short years ago. An example of this would be the ability to take smart phone golf lessons. In the past, the only way to take golf lessons were to either try to book a private golf lesson with a busy golf professional and match the time into your busy schedule or take an intimidating group lesson where you would not get individual attention. Either way this stress many players out to the point they would avoid taking golf instruction. Now, taking golf lessons with your smart phone gives you many benefits. Below are just a few…

No Tech Greek Needed – As long as you can work your smart phone and are able to surf the internet you will be able to take advantage of smart phone golf lessons. You may read golf articles, watch golf videos, watch a golf webinar or even take a video of yourself to send off for a professional to review. The definition of smart phone golf instruction is still contains a lot of variety.

online-golf-instruction

Many Instructors at Your Fingertips – You will now have access to literally thousands of golf instructors. There is good and bad to this. Keep in mind that anyone can put up anything on the internet and many decide to put up internet golf lessons whether they are qualified or not. You will want to do some research on them to find out if they are affiliated with the PGA of America and have become a Certified Professional in Golf Instruction or a Master Professional in Golf Instruction.

Convenience – Let’s face it, this a big deal why most golfers do not take instruction or play as much golf as they would like. They simply do not have the time. Smart phone golf lessons allow you to work on your game when it is convenient for you to work on it. It does not matter whether you are on your club’s range, at home or traveling. It is a great way to take mobile golf lessons.

Not Intimidating – Many golfers find taking private lessons or golf classes intimidating. This is understandable as I am nervous when taking a lesson form a new instructor myself. Everybody wants to impress and not look foolish in front of someone we perceive to be an expert in the game. Others simply are not comfortable being around others as they try to learn the game as they always think that they will be the worst one there. This is usually not true. However, it is their perception so it becomes a reality and hinders them from participating.

Price of a Golf Lesson – Other than time, money is the next biggest barrier facing the game of golf. Many players simply do not have the disposable income that they have even a few years ago. Being that the average cost of a golf lesson is $80 in the US, this makes golf instruction out of reach for many players. With doing some research, you can find a qualified golf instructor who provides smart phone golf lessons that can help you improve and enjoy the game.

Golfing Lessons

Golfing Lessons

Golf instructions or lessons come in many forms. Not only will your learning style play a part in which form of golfing lessons will benefit you the most, but also how much face to face contact hat you enjoy or are looking to have in the process. Here are just some examples of golfing lessons that can help you learn and enjoy the game….

Online Golf Academy – You can learn the game by using technology. Depending on which one that you choose, an online golf academy experience can be as good as an in-person experience. Great for young people as well as those of us that travel quite a bit. Your instruction is waiting for you when you are ready!

Online Golf School – Meet other people that have the same interest as you do, to learn how to play the game better. An online golf school is a great way for those players that are intimidated or may be uncomfortable in an in-person setting.

Mobile Golf Lessons – There is simply not a more convenient option to take golf instruction. You can have personalized golf tips delivered directly to you when and where you are ready to improve on your game.

Personalized Online Golf Lessons – Yes this is as it sounds. You can have lessons given to you in real time through the internet that are personalized to your specific challenges. If your swings changes during the lesson so will your instructions.

Private Golf Lessons – This is the traditional way to take lessons. This is a great way to learn the game depending on your goals. Typically better players and those that are competitive enjoy this format the best.

IPhone Golf Lessons – Did you know your IPhone can also be your golf instructor? There are many apps, online golf schools or online golf academies that can help you improve at your very own pace and when it is convenient for you.

Droid Golf Lessons – Let your droid help you enjoy the game by taking mobile golf lessons when you have the time no matter where you are. Many enjoy this experience as they do not feel as much pressure as being in a group experience and you can learn at your own pace.

Online Golf Class – No matter your skill level, an online golf class will allow you to meet other people with your interests without the pressure of being literally face to face with them. You will still learn all of the fundamentals and improve your game.

Putting Lessons – No doubt, putting lessons are the fastest way to improve your scores. Yes being able to hit your driver is important but statistically not as important as learning how to putt. Once you improve your putting you will see your handicap go down and the fun that you have on the course go up.

Short Game Lessons – Once you improve your putting, learning to properly chip and pitch the golf ball is very important if your goals are to lower your scores. Many refer to the scoring zone as 100 yard and in. this is not true for all golfers. With many beginning golfers this range might be considered how far you hit your pitching wedge and in.

Online Golf Tips – If you are looking for golf instruction online, it does not take long to realize that there are many people offering their opinion on how to improve your game. It is vital that you find a qualified golf instructor that makes sense to you. If you do not think that you can do it in the beginning, bets are you will not try it for very long.

Taking mobile golf lessons on your android has many benefits to you. Below we will discuss just a few of the many benefits that you could receive from taking your golf instruction on a droid.

Convenience – We will cut to the chase…learning the game through Droid golf lessons is convenient for you. As we have stated, you are busy. It is difficult to schedule enough time for a lesson to begin with…THEN…you have to match your busy schedule with your instructor’s busy schedule. It is a stress that you do not need. Golf instruction on the droid will allow you to access online golfing lessons on your schedule. It does not matter what time of day or night or where you might be in the world, you will always have access when you are ready.

Many Options – Android golf lessons give you plenty of options based on your learning style as well. Not all golf tips are good for you. Yep…you read that right. We all have different learning styles. Some of us are more visual learners while others may like to learn through auditory or feel cues. In addition, some of us like to learn by ourselves and some of us like to learn in a group setting such as an online golf class. With all of the options available to take golf lessons on the internet, you can find the group size and learning style that best fits you.

Not Intimidating – It really does not matter whether you are just learning the game or have played for years, taking a golf lesson at a golf academy can be intimidating. Even with all of the lessons that I have given and as well as I understand the process of a golf lesson, I still get nervous when I go to see a new instructor. It is human nature. The good news about taking golf lessons on your android is that are many alternatives that you will not have to be in a live one-on-one setting or in a live group clinic. There is no pressure.

Learn At Your Own Pace – Without the intimidation factor, you are allowed to learn the game at your own pace with android golf lessons. If you are struggling with a concept, you can review it as many times as you need to in order to understand it. If you are just having a hard time understanding it, you could attend a golf webinar to get your question answered. Depending on the format, you can do this fairly anonymously, if it scares you. Keep in mind, the golf instructor is there to help you, not scare you.

IPhone Golf Lessons

As we all depend more and more on new technology on our IPhone, IPad, Mac, etc., IPhone golf lessons have become a reality and a viable way that can help you learn the game. All you need is an internet connection and the world of online golf instruction will be open to you as never before. No matter whether you are at home, traveling on the road or standing on the driving range of the regular golf course you can have personalized golf lessons delivered directly to you.

Internet Golf LessonsYou are probably wondering…so, what are the advantages to taking IPhone golf lessons or mobile golf lessons? Frankly, there are many benefits but we will discuss a few of them here:

Not Awkward – Even though I have given thousands of golf lessons, I still get nervous when I go take a private golf lesson myself. Maybe I am too self-conscious, but many have my students have gone through the same thing at the beginning of their lessons. Standing in front of a teaching professional can be very intimidating. Taking IPhone golf lessons takes away all of the intimidation that you may feel while taking an in-person lesson or clinic.

Learn At Your Own Pace – Especially if you are enrolled or you are thinking or enrolling in a golf clinic, personalized online golf lessons through your IPhone allow you to learn at your very own pace. If you are understanding the information that is being presented to you…great! If you are having trouble with a certain point then you can take a little more time and really understand your challenge so you can improve.

Access to Instructors – Iphone golf lessons allow you to have access to many instructors that would be too expensive to visit due to distance. You will also have access to many great instructors that may not be as well known. Just because they do not teach the hottest tour player does not mean that they are not good golf instructors. With that being said, you will want to do a bit of research to find a golf instructor that will be a good fit for you

Convenience – One of the current barriers to the game of golf is the amount of time it takes to learn to play the game. Many times it is a struggle to correlate your busy schedule along with the busy professional that you are trying to meet with. In addition, you have drive time to the facility and other distractions. The best part of IPhone golf lessons is as long as you have your IPhone and an internet connection; your instructor is with you!

Cost – Another barrier to learning to play the game of golf is money. If you are just starting to play the game, you can spend as much or as little as you want to get started with golf clubs. Golf clinics will offer you a price break but you are in a group setting and the instruction is not personalized golf lessons for you and your improvement. You can take golf lessons on your IPhone for less money and still get great information that will allow you to play the game at any level that you would like.

Private Golf Lessons

Private Golf LessonsMany players look to improve their game through private golf lessons every year. Some players struggle to take this type of golf instruction because they are intimidated by exposing themselves and their faults in front of a professional. Others players simply do not have the time and/or the money to get this type of golf instruction. However, the internet is minimizing many of these fears listed and is allowing access to great golf tips and advice from instructors that many players would never have the opportunity to go and meet.

In Person Private Golf Lessons
This is of course the traditional way to take a golf lesson. You meet the professional typically on the driving range and work on the challenges that you may have in your full swing. As opposed to being in a group setting, the learning will take place at your pace. This simply means that the quicker that you grab concepts and or practice to improve upon concepts covered you and your professional can move to the next topic or challenge. You will be able to ask any question at any time that may be confusing you which you may or may not be in a group or clinic setting.

Online Private Golf Lessons
By using the technology available today, you can have access to many different instructors and distance is no longer a challenge. Mobile golf lessons can be taken privately online in many forms. Some consider finding a teacher that you like and reading articles and watching their videos would constitute taking private lessons. That is not necessarily my definition. Others will find access to message boards or chat rooms and interact with golf professionals. Another form would come in the look of a golf webinar. The golf webinar can be tailored to a specific topic such as putting, driving or shirt game. In addition, it can be targeted at certain groups such as ladies golf webinar or a junior golf webinar. A big advantage to webinars is that typically you can go back and watch them on your own time so they are very convenient.

Skype Private Golf Lessons
As we have already talked about, technology is changing how many people are learning the game of golf. Many golf instructors are using Skype to “meet” with their students. Although they still have to schedule a time to meet, this technology allows the coach and the player to be anywhere as long as they have an internet connection.

Do not let the fear of taking traditional golf instruction get in the way of you learning how to play golf. By using technology, you can have access to teachers no matter where either of you are. This is much more convenient as everyone’s schedule is getting busier and busier. In addition, depending on which form of online golf instruction that you use, the technology takes away the awkwardness of being right in front of a professional. Although they are only there to help you, it can still be an intimidation experience.

Free Online Golf Lessons

Technology is a staple in almost everyone’s life and many golfers are looking for free online golf lessons. This begs questions such as: Where can I find free online golf lessons? How do I find a credible Online Golf Instructor? Can I really learn the game through online golf instruction? Below we will discuss these questions and answer them the best that we can.

Where can I find a free online golf lessons?

If you are reading this, you probably know the answer to this question. With that being said we will cover all bases. One you are online, you simply go to a search engine box such as Google, Yahoo or Bing and type in the challenge that you are having. Let’s pretend that in your last round that you missed a few greens and were left with some chip shots. Unfortunately, you did not pull these shots off even though they were pretty simple. An example that you might type would be “What are the Basics of Chipping?” You will be amazed at how much help is waiting for you! All you have to do is simply type in a phrase and you will have videos and articles at your fingertips.

How do I find a credible Online Golf Instructor?

We are all familiar with the saying that if it is too good to be true then it usually is? Well, that statement is never as true as when you are looking for free online golf lessons. Buyers beware and you get what you pay for also come to mind. With that being said, there are great instructors putting out free online golf lessons for you to learn from. Keep in mind that literally anyone can write an article or throw a video up on YouTube. Do your research on who is giving the online golf tip. Ideally, you should be able to do an online search on them and retrieve other results. Some things that you may look for include: are they a PGA member? Are they Certified in Golf Instruction by the PGA or are they a Master Professional in Golf Instruction from the PGA? You will find many different theories in the online world and you should follow someone that writes in a way that you like, comes across on video as believable and their theory makes sense to you. If they are talking about positions that you do not think your body can achieve…guess what…you probably will not achieve them.

Can I really learn the game through online golf instruction?

With the acceptance of learning through the technology of today, there is no question that you can learn the game through online golf instruction. The amount of time and money that our current society has is ever-changing. Online golf swing lessons can give you access to teachers that you may not have otherwise heard of otherwise. In addition, learning the game this way can be much more affordable than traveling to go see them in person because with a simple internet connection you will have a connection to your instructor!

Personalized Online Golf Lessons

With all of the information available on the World Wide Web, it is still difficult to find personalized online golf lessons. Technology, ever changing as it is, now allows you to take personalized online golf lessons or mobile golf lessons no matter where you are in the world as long as you have an internet connection. Here are just a few of the reasons that this type of golf instruction is better:

Personalized Online Golf Lessons versus the Golf Lesson Video Vault

Golf lesson videos are great…IF …you know what you are watching. The challenge is simple. If you go to one of these “video vaults” for lack of a better term, there may be 100 videos on how to fix a slice. Here is the question, how do you know which one is right for you? With all due respect, you probably do not know which one will fix you. Then you think, “but, this one if from XYZ instructor so it must work.” The video may give you great information but it does not match with your current challenges. It may not match your learning style either.

Personalized Online Golf Lessons versus the Golf Lesson Article Vault

With the article vault, you will basically go through the same challenges that you have with the online golf video vault. Again, you can be reading some great information. However, it may not be the correct way to fix your current challenge.

Sending a Video of Your Golf Swing Off to be Critiqued

There are more and more instructors that are allowing you to video tape your very own golf swing. Once completed, send it to them via email or upload it to them. They will then critique your swing and voice over any comments that they may have about how to improve your motion. This is great if you do not have access to very many instructors in your area. However, it is upon you to properly have and to set up the equipment needed to video your swing. In addition, there is usually a two to four day window before you get any feedback returned to you. Would it not be better to receive the feedback as you are standing on the practice facility?

How do I find personalized online golf lessons?

With a Wireless Golf Coach membership, you do not have to go diving into thousands of articles or videos trying to figure out which article or video is the best one to better your swing. By using a laptop, IPad, IPhone, Android phone or desk top, you will answer a series of very simple questions about your ball flight and the proper drill will be given to you right on your device! How cool is that? Even if youare just starting to play the game and are looking for a beginner golf lesson, this is NOT difficult! Really!

If you still have questions, you can then drop into one of the supervised online practice sessions and ask your golf related question(s) to a PGA of America Professional. During the online practice session, your questions can range from what is going on in your swing to questions about equipment.

Find A Golf Instructor

You have made the decision that you need to find a golf instructor. Now how do you find a golf coach that can help you? How do I go about finding a qualified golf teacher for personalized online golf lessons? How will I know if they are qualified to teach or not? Will they be able to fix me in just one lesson or will I need a series? Are online golf lessons a legitimate option? The questions may seem endless, but, here is some advice for finding the best fit for you to improve your golf game.

Golf InstructorHow do I find a golf instructor that can help me?

I guess I will start off by answering a question with a question. How do you go about finding an accountant, doctor, dentist, etc.? Most people that I know, ask those with similar thoughts and beliefs their opinion on who they use and trust their business or health. This can be done with the regular group(s) that you play with, especially if someone has recently improved their game. However, be warned that what they worked on to improve their game may very well NOT be the medicine that you need to improve your game.

As I am trying to find a golf instructor, how will I know if they are qualified to teach or not?

This is a great question and shows that you are really looking to learn and not just get a quick fix. You can locate a local golf instructor that is close to you through PGA.com. The PGA offers certifications in golf instruction and these instructors are few and far between. If you are close proximity to one you are lucky and should take that opportunity.

How long should the golf lessons & instruction session take and how often should I take them?

This is the $64,000 dollar question. There are too many variables to consider to simply give a clear cut answer here. What I will say is that the instructor should be willing to watch you for a few minutes or have a sit down conversation with you to determine where you currently are in your golf game, determine if you have any current or past injuries that could change your motion and develop a plan for you. No matter your skill level, the plan should be logical and make sense to you. If it does not then this person may not be the best instructor for you.

In trying to find a golf instructor, are online golf lessons a legitimate option?

With all of the new technology, taking golf lessons online is becoming more and more popular. It is becoming a very legitimate way to learn the game of golf. You will still want to do the research as outlined above on who the instructor is and if they are qualified. The benefits are endless to those golfers that may travel a lot or for those that love the game in a rural community. The great part about them is that as long as you have an internet connection, you will have access to your golf lessons!

Mobile Golf Lessons

Why should you be limited to learning? With today’s technology and mobile golf lessons, you can take your golf instruction literally anywhere! With a laptop, IPad or smart phone and an internet connection, you can learn to play the game at your own pace and have personalized lessons while you are standing on the driving range or anywhere that you feel the need.

WGC MOBILE GOLF LESSONSWe are asked all of the time… so, what exactly are the advantages of using mobile golf lessons to improve my game? Although the list has many advantages, here are the biggest advantages that we think that you have in taking mobile golf lessons:

1. Cost

If we are being honest with ourselves, many times price plays a larger part than we would like when it comes to taking golf instruction from a Professional. In doing research, nationally the AVERAGE one hour golf lesson ranges from $70-$90. That is for one lesson! In today’s economy, everyone having less and less disposable income and this range simply may not be in the budget. Companies such as Wireless Golf Coach allow you to take unlimited mobile golf lessons for less than the cost of one average golf lesson.

2. Convenience

The best part of mobile golf lessons is that they are…well…mobile. You can take them anywhere that you are able to connect to a smart phone, lap top, IPad, desk top, etc. Mobile golf instructions are great for those who have to travel for work or those that live in a rural area and do not have access to many instructors.

 3. Reach More Golf Instructors

One of the most over looked things that students do when selecting a golf instructor is understanding what their very own learning style is and does it match the way the teacher delivers the information? For example, if you learn best by feel and the instructor keeps demonstrating what to do in front of you, the two of you are not a good match. The instructor needs to understand different learning styles and how to teach to each.

 4. Learn At Your Own Pace

This is definitely and advantage of taking mobile golf lessons from an online golf academy. Not everyone learns at the same rate and not everyone has the same amount of time to spend on improving his or her game. More than likely you know quickly that you like to receive information while trying to learn. If you do not get you can simply rewind and watch again. If you still have questions you can get them answered during a golf webinar.

 5. Mobile Instruction Is Not Awkward

Many people feel too embarrassed to take a golf lesson in person. They prefer to be on something like Skype or even just type their question into a chat box is more comforting for them.

6. You Do NOT Need To Be A Tech Geek

Many people are concerned with how “techie” these things must be. Honestly, they simply are not. Depending on what software the host is using, it usually only takes a couple of clicks and you can receive mobile golf instruction. This is the best part!

Beginners Golf Lesson

A beginners golf lesson usually starts out with the same question…”How will I improve the fastest?” Although my answer has always been to learn how to putt first and then learn the short game, new golfers have a hard time staying off of the driving range and pulling out the driver. I get it. Hitting the driver is the “sexy” part of golf. However, more than half of your strokes used in every single round that you ever play will be on the putting green or from close to it.

Whether you are in a beginner golf class or taking private golf lessons, below is the order I would suggest that you work on your golf game to lower your scores the fastest:

1.Putting – Golf Lesson for Beginners

Believe it or not, putting practice is the fastest way to lower your scores. Yes, you read that correctly! Putting practice is the fastest way to lower your scores. If you are like most amateurs most of your practice time is spent on the driving range with your driver. Understand that you will only hit your driver 14 times a round in most cases. You can improve your golf game rapidly if make a small goal of making 5, 10 or 20 three foot putts before you play a round of golf or to end a practice session. This is a specific quantifiable goal that will make you feel the pressure of actually playing. If you do not believe me wait until you only have to make one more!

2. Short game – Golf Lesson for Beginners
For our conversation, the short game lessons will include chipping and pitching of the golf ball or any shot that is not a full swing. Most professionals and better golfers will call the short game any shot within 100 yards of the hole. If you are just starting to play it may be everything within 50 yards. Make short game practice fun by playing games with yourself or with friends. Try to get the golf ball up onto the green and down into the hole with only two shots. This is where the term up and down comes from. Select from five different spots to drop you ball and see if you can do it. As a beginner it will probably take more than two shots, so set your goal at 3 or 4 shots. Again, make it fun, but challenging.

3. Full Swing – Golf Lesson for Beginners
Many beginners like to take group lessons or golf classes to get started. There are many positives to this format: First, it is very social. Second, it is usually a less expensive way to get introduced to the game. Third, it may give you access to different instructors so you can select which one would match up better for you to take individual lessons from in the future. Fourth, many students have stated that they do not feel as much pressure in a group as they do one on one with a professional. Group lessons usually consist of the very basics of the full swing. You will also want to make sure that the group will have some putting instruction too!

Just starting the game, a golf lesson for beginners should follow the above order. This will allow for the quickest improvement and you having more fun on the golf course.

Online Golf Lesson - Golf Shanks and How to Stop Them

There is no question about it. A golf shank also known as a shank shot is a very dirty word to many golfers. Although many new players struggle with the shanks, even experienced players can have a bout of them. Yes I just described that like it is an illness. If you have ever had them, you know they can be very tough to cure!

So then two simple questions come to the surface: 1. What causes them? 2. More importantly, how do I fix them? Here are two main causes of a golf shank and how to fix this dreaded shot:

1.Cause of golf shanks - You have too much weight on your toes going through the impact zone. This moves the path of the shaft out or closer to the golf ball and exposes the hosel of the club to the golf ball.

1.Fix – Many players have problems with their balance especially once the swing begins. The truth is that there are two types of balance that you need to be concerned with in your golf swing. The first is static balance. This would be talking about your balance in your set up position. How can you check this? I am so glad that you asked! You can check this by simply monitoring where the weight is in your feet. Most people can tell where their balance is from side to side. Most players get in trouble by either having their weight too far forward on their toes or too far back on their heels. You should be able to feel your weight or balance on the arches of your feet and be able to pick up your toes and wiggle them within your shoes. Static balance is as simple as that.

Dynamic balance is the balance that you have while you are moving or making your golf swing. We will want to monitor it through the impact position. You can do this by placing an inexpensive dowel rod underneath your feet as you take your stance. If you are out of balance, you will automatically feel your body adjust.

2.Cause – Extreme inside or outside path on the backswing

2.Fix - Within every golf swing, there is a cause and effect happening or maybe better said for every action there must be a reaction. For example, many players take the golf club away too far to the inside (picture the player who wraps it around their body). If they naturally swing forward, they will miss the ball entirely unless they re-route the golf club and come what is known as over the top or start the downswing with their shoulder. This results in the club swiping across the ball starting the golf ball to the left if the clubface is applied and not the hosel. The fix is to take half swings. The club on the back swing should stop so it is parallel to the target line, parallel to the ground and the toe of the club is pointing towards the sky. You should then swing through to the same position on the forward swing. The golf club should be parallel to the target line, parallel to the ground and the toe of the club is pointing towards the sky. Once you are proficient at hitting balls with this length of swing, slowly add length to the forward swing. The back swing will take care of itself!

Online Golf Swing Lessons

In recent years, online golf swing lessons have grown in popularity, for the simple reason that they address the problem of finding time away from the course to actually take golf lessons. What are the pros and cons from taking online golf lessons? Glad you asked as we have outlined a few here for you:

Pros to taking online golf lessons –

Time – There is no need try and track down the Pro and find time in your schedule that matches with his or her schedule. If you take instructions form a busy professional, you may not be able to book a lesson for a week or more. What do you do in the mean time?

Cost – This kind of comes with a warning…sometimes you get what you pay for. If you are just beginning to learn how to play the game and you are short on funds then this can be a great option for you. With this being said make sure to read the cons section on this one as well and we will get you on the right track!

Access – Due to the advances in technology, golf online lessons may give you access to instructors or teachers that you would not have had access to just a few years ago. You no longer need to be directly with your instructor to receive great instruction. Many players will use video to record their swing and then email it to their instructor. The instructor can watch the swings, voice over what they see and simply email it back to the student. In addition, some instructors are now using Skype and/or Google+ to interact face to face with a student or a group of students.

Cons to taking online golf lessons –

Amount of information – There is already a sea of golf instruction online and it is left up to you to decide which information is good information and bad information. If you are a beginner, this can easily be overwhelming. Some websites brag about how many golf instruction articles or videos that they have on their site and then turn you loose to figure out which one will work for yourself. They might as well just say “Good Luck!”

Source of the information – With all of the golf information on the web, I would highly encourage you to stick with reputable instructors. If you are a beginner you may not know who to look for so let me tell you what to look for in your online golf tips. Find someone who is affiliated with the PGA of America. Better yet, find a PGA of America Master Professional in Instruction or a PGA of America Certified Professional in Instruction. I would also suggest to Google Top 100 Teachers for a list.

Access – Create a plan and stick with it. It is very easy to jump from idea to idea if you do not think something is working fast enough. Make sure the idea makes sense to you and you understand why you would want to implement it into your golf swing.

Online Golf Tips - 3 Golf Swing Tips

Everyone is looking for the answer when it comes to the golf swing. Many players turn to online golf swing tips to help them improve their golf swing and find the “new magic.” As you are looking for internet golf lessons, it is important to understand if the information goes along with the theory that you are already trying to implement and is spoken in your language and by that we mean your learning style.

Below you will find three golf swing tips that will improve your swing and lower your scores:

1. Improve Your Balance

We think that this is one of the most over looked parts of the golf swing especially by amateurs. As you fall out of balance while you swing, you will have to make corrections or manipulate the golf club in order to hit the golf ball let alone to hit the ball solid.

A player should have proper balance at address, the top of the backswing as well as in the finish position. Keep in mind that balance comes in two forms. You have side-to-side balance as well as front-to-back balance. Most amateurs struggle with front-to-back balance which can also be referred to as heel-to-toe balance. Simply making yourself aware of your balance can improve your golf swing motion.

2. Where Is The Top Of Your Backswing?

Everyone’s is different. There, I said it. If you are trying to swing a nine-iron you do not have to get it “parallel” to the ground before the backswing is completed. We are all built differently and have varying amounts of flexibility.

Many players actually fall out of balance trying to get the club parallel to the ground. Take a slow backswing. You will feel yourself loading your weight and then…BAM… you will know that you have been too far. When you are at “your” top of the swing, someone should be able to come a push on you and you will be stable enough not to really move.

3. How Is Your Grip Pressure?

We are not just talking about when you are in your address position. How is your grip pressure while the golf club is traveling through impact? Most of you probably have no idea because you have a death grip on the club.

You should monitor how much tension is in your shoulders, forearms and hands as you transition the golf club from the top of the golf swing, down through impact and into the finish position.

A great golf swing tip for this is known as the gun drill or pistol drill. Simply take the thumb and your forefinger of the lower hand on your club and straighten them out to make them look like a pistol. Do not cheat and curl your index finger because the gun will then be pointing at you!

We work with many of our students on these three easy golf swing tips. We are sure that by implementing one or all of these golf instruction tips that you will lower your score and have more fun playing golf. Tell us which one worked best for you!

Online Golf Tips

Putting DrillPlayers of all skill levels are always looking to improve their game. Many golfers want to use online golf tips to improve their games. For some, it is a matter of cost and for others it is simply a matter of convenience. So, the question is “Can you really learn anything and improve your game from using online golf tips?” The simple answer is yes, but, here are some helpful hints to make sure that you are getting the best information for you and your game.

First you need to breakdown your game and understand what you need help with first. Many of you will want o learn how to hit your driver farther. I am a golfer too. I get it. However, this is not the fastest way to lower your scores. Believe it or not, improving your short game will lower your scores faster than getting another 10 yards out of your driver. Over the next few rounds, keep track of how many fairways you hit, green you hit, putts taken and how many times you make an up and down if you miss the green. This will give you a better sense of where your weakness lies.

Now you are aware of what you want improve so how to you find online golf tips? Of course you go to your favorite search engine whether it is Google, Yahoo or Bing and simply type in a key phrase such as putting lesson or short game tips. As you already know, multiple listings will be returned to you in a nana-second on how you can improve. This is where I warn you to be careful!

You must keep in mind that literally anyone can post anything on the World Wide Web. Before I read the material and no matter your skill level, find out who is doing the writing. You will preferably want information from a PGA of America Professional. It is even better if they hold a Certification in Golf Instruction and the best if they are a Master Professional in golf instruction. So, how in the world are you going to find this out? Many instructors will provide this information on the “About Us” page of their website. You can always go to PGA.com and find an instructor and then Google them as well.

Now that you have found an instructor and some information, how do you know if it is any good? Again, no matter your skill level, you will quickly be able to recognize if it makes sense to you or not. Remember, just because it is on the internet does not make it good material. (I am a French model) We all have different learning styles and ways that we take in information. So you may have to “taste test” a little bit. With this being said, do not allow the attitude of “It did not work on that swing so it must be bad” rule your practice time. You will never get anywhere with that attitude.

If you still have questions once you practice, you can always find online golf tips in the form of a golf webinar. During the webinar, you can have a professional answer any other questions that you may have. In addition, you can find different resources on Twitter and Facebook where you can submit questions and professionals will answer your questions.

Beginner Golf Tips

We are asked all of the time by those wanting to learn how to play golf..."How do I get started and what clubs should I buy?" Here we will discuss some beginner golf tips that will help you to get started playing this great game. Many people believe that the game is too expensive to play and is mostly played at a private club. Actually, 8 out of 10 rounds are played on a public golf course! Here is how you can get involved:

Antique-Golf-ClubsBeginner Golf Clubs – Many of those who are just thinking about taking up the game do not want to invest in something that they are not sure if they are even going to like to do. I get it as I have done the same thing. Many beginners think that you need to go out and buy an expensive set of clubs to start playing the game. This is simply not true! If you are on the fence about whether you would like to play or not, the first thing that I would do is contact the course that you want to go to and see if they have any demo clubs that you can try. Most clubs will allow you to take them to the range and practice. After going to the practice facility a few times, you will get a feel for whether you like it or not. This will probably only cost you the range balls that you hit! Not Expensive! In addition, the majority of the manufacturers sell clubs by the club these days. So when you are ready to purchase, you do not have to buy them all at once and your set can grow with your skill level.

Find a putter – Even though you are a beginner, you will be attracted to some putters over others. You will want to find one that you like to look at and the bottom sits flat on the ground. In addition, you will want it to be pointing where you are looking (meaning it does not feel like it points to the right or left).

Rules and the Regulations – Once you are ready to try to go to the golf course, you will need to learn some of the simple rules. DO NOT get bogged down in them. The Rules of Golf are very complicated. You will need to learn proper etiquette and a couple of the major rules. Your local PGA Professional should be happy to help you with any questions that you may have. If you really want to get into the rules, the USGA.org website has the rule book posted online as well as quizzes for you to test your knowledge. Keep in mind though, unless you are playing in a tournament, the rules are what you make them! Make it fun!

Online Putting Lesson

More and more golfers are looking to find the secret to their game by searching out online putting lessons. It seems natural as the world is becoming more and more mobile every single day. Especially in an urban setting, it is difficult to find somebody without an internet connection right on their mobile phone. They literally have the internet at their fingertips!
So…what do you need to know to find the best online putting lessons to help you lower your scores? Here are the various formats that you can find online putting tips…

Article – Of course, there is the standard article. Depending on your learning style, this may be the best format for you. Typically, the article will describe the tip, drill or lesson in detail and be accompanied by pictures to help you gain a clear understanding. You can find golf articles in many traditional golf magazines, sports magazines or you can simply search for them on Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. You would simply type in a search term related to your current challenge. For example, you could type into the search box - Improve my putting stroke, articles.

Video – Many people do not realize that YouTube is the second largest search engine behind Google. YouTube has made it possible for anybody and everybody to post a video. There is good and bad to this. The good is simply that you can gain instruction and tips from many instructors that due to distance or cost, you would not be able to gain knowledge from in the past. The bad news is simply that literally anyone can post a video on YouTube and you have to be able to find a credible golf instructor before implementing the message.

Webinar – Some instructors are doing Webinars. If you are not tech savvy, do not worry as webinars come in many forms. One form would be that the instructor would simply talk through info by recording themselves and allowing you to access the presentation. The instructor may host a live golf webinar. Depending on the format, you may need a webcam in order to participate in the event. If not, the instructor will receive questions as you simply type them into a form of a chat box.

As discussed in the video format, you will want to do some research on the instructor before you take the information that they are freely doling out. Not all online lessons fit all. You will need to take into account the system or method that you are currently using and determine if it makes sense with what you are trying to accomplish with your swing. If you are not sure, contact the instructor. It should be easy to contact hem through their website, FaceBook, Twitter, etc. If it is not easy to contact them then maybe that instructor is not the one for you. If you need help finding a teacher, read our article Find A Golf Instructor.

By simply owning a mobile phone and having the internet at your fingertips, you have access to teachers all across the country and can find online putting lessons that will help you lower your scores and have more fun playing the great game of golf!

Ladies Putting Lesson

Many women enjoy putting and are open to taking a ladies putting lesson. Many ladies find it fun because they do not have to go to the driving range and try to belt the ball as far as they can on every swing. As a matter of fact, you can have fun doing putting drills or playing many putting games with your friends, spouse or kids that puts everyone on equal ground and the games can become pretty competitive at times.

Putting DrillA word of warning to the ladies…a standard length putter is typically 35 inches. This is typically to long for ladies. If this is the only putter that you have, you may want to grip the putter closer to the shaft. You can also check with your local PGA Professional. Many professionals can simply remove the grip and cut the putter down so it will fit you better and be more comfortable. It usually does not take long and is inexpensive. This will allow you to use the putter better and have more fun as well!

Putting is more on the finesse side of the game and anyone can become a good putter. Here are a few putting fundamentals to get you going on the practice green and will allow you to make more putts and add enjoyment to the game.

Putting Grip – First and foremost, it must be said that there are almost as many putting grips as there are golfers. Comfort and confidence will be keys to finding the best putting grip for you.  You will notice that typically the putting grip is shaped differently from all of the other clubs in your set. If you do have a round putter grip, then feel free to use the same grip that you use in your full swing. Once the bottom of the putter is flat on the ground, you will want to take the thumbs of each hand and place them on top or on the flat part of the grip. This will make it easier to keep the face of the putter square to where you want to hit it otherwise known as your target line.

Putting Stance – Again, there are many variations of stances that are effective. You will want to place your feet apart but no wider than your shoulders. Then bend over from your hips. What we mean by this is not to slouch down to the golf ball but bend over by placing your pockets behind your heels. You will want to make sure that you are in balance from heel to toe. You can find the proper place by sending your weight slightly towards your toes and then back to your heels. Once you find your center, you may have to get closer to the golf ball or back away from it.

Conventional putting instruction wants your eyes directly over the golf ball. You can check this by taking your grip and stance and then drop a golf ball form your eye socket. If you have your eyes over the ball you will be able to tell when the golf ball hits the ground.

By now you should have a putter that fits you, understand how to properly grip the putter and take your stance. One Handed Putting Drill

Many players struggle with getting a putt started on the correct line. A very simple one-handed putting drill has help many students get the feeling and master the mechanics of what is to happen in a consistent putting stroke.

There are multiple reasons for using this easy putting drill including 1. Students are able to feel that they are pulling the club through impact and not pushing the club through impact 2. Students can feel more of the swing of the putter 3. Students can better feel the ball against the club face at impact.

This putting drill is very simple to do and you will immediately gain feedback that you help you to improve. Go to a practice putting green and select a hole location. You would like for the hole location to be fairly flat or even slightly uphill. Drop a coin or place a tee into the green just two feet away from the hole. Yes, just two feet.

Next you will want to place a ball close to your mark or tee and take your grip and stance as if you were going to stroke the putt. This includes taking your normal putting grip. Once you are set, simply place your hand closer to the hole on your hip, in your pocket or behind your back. You will want to note your shoulder placement or alignment and you will not want it to change from your original set up position. Hint…Many students find that their shoulder alignment is way off! In addition, you will want to make sure that the palm of the hand that is still on the club matches or is equal to the putter face, meaning that they are both pointing in the same direction. On a straight putt, this should be at the hole.

With only one hand on the club, you should really be able to feel the weight of the putter during your stroke. This should allow the club to move in a natural back and through motion. This is one of the reasons that you want to do this putting drill from just two feet. From this distance you will not feel that you have to help and/or manipulate the club to get the ball to the hole. As you begin your forward swing, you should feel what is called lag on the pad of your index finger closest to your palm. This will confirm that you are pulling and not pushing the putter.

Many students are surprised how different impacting the ball feels and what they can learn from it. Solid impact is needed to put the ball on line. However, if you are not stroke the ball solidly, it is very difficult to hit two putts the same speed or distance too! Who knew you could learn so much form striking a two foot putt?

After reading this article, you know that by using the one handed putting drill to improve your putting stroke, you can not only improve your distance and your direction!

Ladies Golf Classes

Ladies golf classes are a very popular way to learn the basics and fundamentals of the game of golf. It is not surprising as there are many benefits to taking golf classes for ladies. Below we will discuss just a few of the more popular ones…

Networking – Attending a ladies golf clinic will put you in touch with other ladies that have the same interest. Some classes are even specifically targeted for business women and others are targeted at the ladies that work in the home. Either way, these formats will put you in touch with other ladies that you can learn from and have a good time with while learning the game. Plus, once you are ready to go to the golf course you will already have some playing partners!

Online golf classes – For the ladies that think that an in-person class is too intimidating, there are other alternatives. An online golf class would allow you to take golf instruction and learn at your own pace. The good news is that your do not have to be a big technical guru to get a benefit from this type of instruction. Basically, if you can surf the internet, then you can benefit from online ladies golf classes. In addition, you can take these lessons on your schedule as you do not have to make an appointment with a busy professional. This is ideal for those of you that do a lot of travel as your golf lessons can go with you anywhere!

Exercise – As health costs are rising and rising, it is more import ant than ever to stay in good physical health. Many will say that there is not any better exercise than walking. Playing golf can provide that excuse to go on a great walk while enjoying the great outdoors all at the same time.

Play With The Family – You are not the only one in the family that needs to stay healthy. Unfortunately, childhood obesity is at its highest levels in the United States. Playing golf with the family is a great way to spend time together, for everyone to get some exercise and teach the life lessons that the game provides. Unlike the other major sports, you will be introducing your kids to a game that they can play the rest of their life and even use to their advantage in the business world

Cost – Since the instructor can teach a group of people, the cost of ladies golf classes are typically less than a one-on-one private golf lesson. You will want to do a little research before signing up for the clinic. You will want to know the experience of the instructor and do not be scared to call and ask for an appointment to discuss the clinic and how it will work to insure that it will match your learning style.

Above are just a few of the benefits to taking ladies golf classes. No matter whether you are a beginning golfer or have played for years, with a little bit of research you will be able to find the best fit for you to improve your game and have more fun while you are shooting lower scores!

Junior Golf Classes

As you are trying to figure out what you are going to do with your kids this summer, keep in mind that junior golf classes or clinics are a very popular way to learn the game of golf. Junior classes have many benefits to them such as a comfortable learning environment, a lower cost to you and they will still get the fundamentals of how to play the game.

Obviously, you will want to take a few things into consideration before you enroll your child in to junior golf classes. You will want to take their age and interest into account while trying to find the best opportunity for them.  You will want to ask about the curriculum of the classes, group size and student teacher ratio. Once that is established and you think it will be a good fit then here are some of the benefits that your child will receive.

Expense
Being in a group class as opposed to being in a one on one private golf lesson will cost much less. The cost of both junior golf classes and private lessons will vary from instructor to instructor across the country. However, if your child is just learning to play the game, they can get a lot out of properly run junior golf clinics. You may be able to find a schedule of classes that is close to the same price as one individual golf lesson.

Social Aspect
With technology and video games ruling many of our children’s lives these days, being placed in a group to interact with the instructor as well as the other children is a great experience for them. Kids can learn social skills that they will utilize the rest of their lives due to some of the group activities. In addition, many kids can be intimidated by taking a golf lesson one on one from a golf professional, most adults are!

Fundamentals
If your child is a beginner, junior golf classes are a great way for them to learn the fundamentals of the game. The instructor should cover how to hold the golf club, also known as the grip. Again, how in depth the instructor goes will depend on the age and/or golf maturity of your child. The grip is very important as it is the only connection that a golfer has to the club throughout the swing. Stance and posture should also be a main topic that will be covered and taught. The emphasis here should be in active balance. This simply means that they have balance form their toes to heels as well as from side to side. Lastly, they should also cover what is a good finish position and what a finish position should look and feel like.

These are just three of the many benefits that you and more importantly your child will receive by attending well run junior golf classes. By getting them involved in the game at an early age, you will have given them a gift because they will be able to play the game throughout their life, unlike other sports, for pleasure or business.

Kids Golf Classes

A kids golf class can take many different shapes and sizes. With all of the technology that has crept into our everyday life, learning how to play golf has many options for junior golfers. In the past, parents would simply look for a local camp or clinic to get their child started playing the game. Now with the majority of teenagers glued to a mobile device such as a smart phone or an IPad (we will not even count a laptop or desktop computer), there are not only many options to learn the game but also more quality instructors to learn the game from. So let’s take a look at the various forms that are available for kids golf classes:

Learning At A Facility
We will start with the good old fashioned way to do it. At a golf facility, there are basically three options for kids golf classes:
1.    Junior Golf Camp – This is a fun way that many children become introduced to the game in a group. A junior golf camp typically runs 3-5 days (mornings) in a row. You will want to ask about the student –teacher ratio. The number that you want will depend on the age of your child but it should make sense to you. I have seen one instructor trying to handle 10+ junior golfers… just glad that it was not me!
2.    Junior Golf Clinics – This is probably the best option if your child is not sure if they want to play or not. Junior golf clinics usually run for one hour for a set number of weeks. This gives your child a chance to try the game with others and they will not become overloaded with information as they sometimes do in a junior camp.
3.    Private Golf Lessons – As you can imagine, this is the most expensive route. Many kids initially feel intimidated in a private lesson. You will need to gauge your child on this one. Their age as well as how socially mature they are could play a role into how effective these lessons can be for your little golfer.

Learning Online
With many of the young people going online to learn most of what they do, it becomes natural for them to want to learn how to play golf using similar resources. The other good news about online kids golf classes is that they are typically less expensive than the real world solutions. So what is available?
1.    Golf Webinars – This format of learning has recently become a very popular way to learn. The great part about them is that you now have more instructors available to you and you can typically watch the webinar at  your leisure as the instructor will make a replay available for you.
2.    Golf Videos and Golf Articles– There are many videos and articles to find online that will cover all aspects of how to play the game of golf and how to swing the club.

No matter how you learn the game, take the time to find a good instructor for your kid’s golf class. The time will be well invested as it will save you time and money in the long run!

Beginner Golf Classes

You have recently decided to learn to play golf and are looking for some beginner golf classes. Since you are just starting out, why should you take a beginner golf class? Many people that are just starting the game wonder about the benefits of learning the game in this format. Here are some the benefits that people like as well as the topics that the instructor should cover.

CLadies Golf Academyost

Since the instructor can teach multiple people at once, the cost of taking beginner golf instruction. This is a benefit that many players enjoy. If you are a true beginner, you will only be able to take in so much information at one time anyway. A one hour private golf lesson may overwhelm many of those that are simply trying to learn the game. However, taking a golf clinic with others should allow you to get short blasts of information and then you should have time to work on it before you move onto the next thought, tip or idea.

Comfortable

Other than cost, one of the largest hurdles that new players have while trying to learn how to play the game is that they do not feel comfortable in a private lesson. It is understandable. You would be spending thirty minutes to an hour one on one with somebody that is considered an expert of the game. That can be intimidating no matter what you are trying to learn! To give you a similar example, although I love to eat, admittedly, I do not cook. It would be very intimidating for me to show up and get a cooking lesson from Emeril LaGasse or Bobby Flay. That experience, although fun. would be nerve-racking and would affect the amount of learning that would take place.

What should be covered?

This is a difficult question to answer simply because there are so many formats of golf classes. We will work under the assumption that the series is six classes. As a true beginner, the agenda should include learning how to putt, learning how to chip, learning how to pitch as well as the full swing. If the format is six classes of full swing, understand that you will spend more than half of your strokes putting the golf ball and it is a very important part of the game to learn and master. Once you begin playing, improving your putting will be the quickest way to lower your scores and have more fun. Although pulling out your driver is fun and sexy, improving it will not lower your scores as fast as improving your putting. I promise. In addition, the instructor should cover dress code, how to make a starting time to play a round.

Without question, there are benefits of taking beginner golf classes to learn how to play the game. As previously discussed, the cost to you will be lower in the long run as the pricing for golf classes is considerably lower than that for a private golf lesson. In addition, you can attend with your friends or make some new friends. Either way it will make the game more fun for you.

Online Golf Class

It is not a new secret; many golfers are taking advantage of an online golf class. As technology has changed by leaps and bounds over the past few years, taking your lessons online is now a viable way to learn how to play the game. Still, many others still have questions about taking a golf class online. Here are some of the questions that we get quite often:

What makes up an online golf class?

The internet has changed many things in our day to day lives and how we take a golf lesson is no different. Of course, many players read articles as well as watch videos online. There are barrels and barrels of this type of information to consume using these mediums. But…How do you know which article or video will fix you and your golf swing? That is where the golf webinar has changed the landscape. You can literally interact with the instructor during the live webinar. The instructor may decide to have a presentation at the beginning of the webinar followed by a question and answer period or the whole webinar may be a direct question and answer.

Who is in an online golf class?

The great part about learning golf this way is that it is on your terms. The format of the webinar will change from instructor to instructor. However, most of the time you can be as anonymous as you want to be. Many times you will be typing your question and the instructor will read and answer it on camera. If you are a social butterfly, you will be able to meet other golfers and start up new friendships while talking about golf.

What devices can I use to take an online golf class?

If you are reading this, then you already have the equipment needed! Haha It is going to come down to personal preference as you can use any computer or device that has an internet connection. That means that you can use your desk top computer, lap top computer, IPad, IPhone, Android phone and many other tablets. I have seen players in an airport participating in a webinar and many enjoy them right from the comfort of their home. Again, it depends on your preference and what is convenient for you.

Who teaches an online golf class?

This is kind of a tricky one because literally anyone can teach in this format. First, I would take the time to research the instructor and make sure that they are a PGA of America Professional like the Wireless Golf Coach. Second, you may want to take a look at the TOP 100 Instructors list. Third, no matter who is teaching, the information must make sense to you. Ask questions and do not just take what they are saying as gospel. Can they back it up with facts or reasoning?

As more and more people are demanding your time, a golf online class may just be your way to best learn the great game of golf.

Best Junior Golf Lessons

As summer is quickly approaching, many parents are looking for the best kids golf lessons for their children. Currently, kids golf classes or junior camps are starting to look much different than they did just a few short years ago.

Junior golf lessons used to typically be taught by a young assistant golf professional trying to cut their teeth in the world of golf instruction. To no fault of the young assistant, they would stand on the driving range and drill all of the students with “all of his knowledge.” In order to do this they would blabber big words that they thought made them sound smart but the kids had no idea what they were talking about. Understandably, the kids thought it was boring and many did not want to return for the second day of camp. Many of these students attended the rest of the week not wanting to be there. This was difficult on the student and the instructor as well.

As more and more research has been conducted, the best junior golf lessons incorporate many activities into a camp that may look like something else but can relate back to the movements in the golf swing. What are we talking about? We are talking about having relay races where the students under-hand range balls into a plastic kiddie pool full of water and ice. Why would we do this at a youth golf camp? We are teaching the campers the shape of the pitching motion. When under-handing the ball towards the pool, they do not want to wind up so far that their hand ends up by their head on their backswing as they will have to short arm it or guess how hard to swing their arm forward. To do it properly, they will take a motion that will take the arm back a short distance and accelerate longer on the forward motion. It will look just like a pitching motion when done correctly.  In addition, the kids have a blast since they are split up into teams and it is a race.

Other camps are having students go through activities that build their core, agility and stability. Some of the best junior golf lessons can be taught by setting up an obstacle course which the children have to run, jump, tumble and stretch in order to complete. Not only will it build many of the assets needed to play good golf, they will have fun and want to keep playing this great game.Others use various size golf clubs or balls that range from golf balls to volley balls that are made of various materials.

Understandably, not all parents comprehend how some of these other activities relate to golf. Please do not get me wrong, the golf swing, putting, chipping and pitching still need to be taught. However, depending on the age, the development as well as the maturity of the child, if they do not find the game fun…they are not going to want to play. By developing the skills, flexibility and muscles needed to play the game, not only will they want to play now but they will want to play for many years to come. Is that not the goal that we have as parents? Give out child something that they can play and build relationships with for a lifetime?

Junior Golf Lessons

It does not a rocket scientist to figure out the future of golf lies within growing junior golf. Depending on the age of your child and goals of your child, junior golf lessons can take many forms. Here is a short list of the options that are out there for your child to learn and enjoy the game of golf.

Private Junior Golf Lesson

This is the traditional way to learn the game. A professional takes your child and teaches them one on one the fundamentals of the game. Although the child, if interested, can learn very quickly in the format, it is the most expensive way to learn how to play the game.

Junior Golf Camp

Many kids are introduced to the game through a summer junior camp. Depending on the size of the camp, the kids are broken up in to groups typically by age although some camps divide students via skill level. It seems that students have to choose which sport they are going to play at a younger and younger age. With this being said, many camps are full of younger children so you will want to contact the facility if you have an older child.

Online Junior Golf Camp

This is usually better for older junior that are used to using technology such as a smart phone, tablet or computer. Students can read lessons, watch videos or attend golf webinars to learn how to play. This is typically the most cost effective way to learn the game.

Junior Golf Classes

After school junior golf classes are another great way for your child to learn how to play golf. Being in a group setting, usually equates to a lower price. Again, it will depend on your child’s current skill level as well as what their end goals are that will determine if this is a good fit for them or not.

Junior Golf Clinic

These are not a lot different from after school classes or even camp for that matter. While the camp may run for four or five straight days, a clinic may run one day a week for four or five weeks. The instructor will teach the same information, but spread it out.

Online Junior Golf Lesson

Many juniors are used to consuming their information from a smart phone, tablet or a computer of some kind. In turn, they have no problem learning the game by reading articles, watching videos or attending webinars.

Junior Golf Webinars

This format is best for those that surf the internet and spend hours upon hours with their head in their Droid or IPhone. Depending on the format, a webinar can range from being very interactive to simply watching a pre-recorded slide show.

Best Junior Golf Lessons

Let’s face it, the best junior golf lessons are those that are fun for the kids and help them improve all at the same time. Since there are three categories of learning styles, it is important that the instructor understand which learning style the student learns with the best.

Junior Golf Camp

Every summer, many children attend a junior golf camp or clinic. A golf camp or clinic comes in many forms and of course it will be best to contact the facility to double check what they will need to make their experience a great one. Many campers are going for the first time and they, as well as their parents, are not sure what they will need while they attend. Below is a short list that should get you on the correct path:

Golf Clubs

As crazy as this might sound it happens. It is kind of like the warnings on products. You think why do they put that on there? Well, the answer simply is that somebody, somewhere actually tried it! If your junior does not have clubs, check with the facility as they may provide them for the instruction. If not, you can purchase single clubs and not spend a lot of money especially if your child is just trying the game for the first time. We suggest purchasing (in this order) a putter, a pitching wedge, a seven iron and a three wood. This will get your new golfer started.

Comfortable Socks

Many students, especially first time students, overlook this aspect. If the camp is scheduled for just a few hours in the morning, one pair should be fine. However if there is a before lunch and an after lunch session, putting on a fresh pair of socks can make the world of difference. So much that if your junior is in my camp, their instructor will be changing socks!

Rain Gear

This is something else that should go without saying but the weather is unpredictable and you just never know what it is going to do. Obviously, an umbrella would be a good choice as well as a rain jacket and a pair of rain pants. If you have an active child, they probably already have these articles from other activities that they enjoy. As long as weather warnings are not out, expect the clinic to keep on going.

Sunscreen

As a parent, I would suggest buying a new bottle of sunscreen. Everyone has different needs for which SPF they need to use to protect themselves. Skin cancer is nothing to fight with and it seems like we are learning more and more about how harmful the sun’s rays are for our skin every single day.

Hat

A hat goes along with protecting your child from the elements whether it is sun or rain (sometimes called liquid sunshine in the golf world). It does not matter whether it is a golf hat that looks like a baseball hat or a visor. Either will provide protection for their skin as well as their eyes.

Medications

Since this may be the first time that your child spends the night away from home, you will want to make sure that you pack all appropriate medications for them. In addition, you will want to print out a list of the medications as well as dosages and times to aid the staff and guarantee that your camper has a great experience.

Beginning Ladies Golf Instruction

Ladies Golf Drills - 1If you are just starting to play golf…great! Even if you have enrolled in some beginning ladies golf instruction or lessons, there are a few things that I get asked about often that may not be covered. Many clinics do not cover topics such as how to make tee times, dress codes and tipping at the golf course.

A tee time is also known as a starting reservation. By definition, it is the time that you will go off the designated first tee. It is a lot like a dinner reservation. How tee times are vary from course to course. The vast majority of the time you can call the golf shop and they will happy to assist you in making a starting time. There may be a window of how far out you may book a tee time. For example you may only be able to book a starting reservation seven days in advance. This will depend on the courses policies.

Some courses and clubs offer online tee times. You access their website through a browser and make your time online. Lastly some country clubs have a lottery for tee times. You call in or log in and request the time that you would like to play and then at the time of the “lottery” you are placed in a time depending on how the lottery is determined.

Once you have a scheduled tee time, you are responsible for arriving at the course at a time which allows you to visit the golf shop to pay your proper fees, warm up on the practice tee and practice putting green as well as eat in the restaurant or snack bar if needed and still be on the tee by the designated time. Clubs and courses vary on how far in advance you are able to make a starting time. Call the club or course to find out what their rules are. Understand, if a tee time is missed you may be charged a “no-show” fee. Again, this will vary from golf course to golf course.

Like tee times, dress codes vary from facility to facility. Believe it or not, this topic runs an entire gamut of what is acceptable. If you are unsure of what you will be able to wear, then you can always call the club or course and simply ask the question. The facility wants you to check in advance if you are not sure as confronting you after you arrive is not comfortable for you or the professional staff. I have found it to be a pretty safe rule that for your ladies golf shirt that you should at least have either a collar or sleeves. Having both a collar and sleeves is always acceptable and having neither is typically not. Again, check with the facility to be sure.

Most facilities allow tipping; however there are some private country clubs that do not allow it. I am sure you are wondering “What is a proper tip?” A typical tip would be $1 or $2 per bag upon arrival as well as when leaving if you get assistance with carrying it loading it as well as having your clubs cleaned.

Ladies Golf Lessons

No matter whether you are a beginner or have been playing the game for years, there is a variety of ladies golf lessons that will help you understand the game, get to meet and socialize with others and have more fun while you play! Here is a short list of various formats that you may like to take ladies golf instruction:

Private Ladies Golf Lesson – This is what most people think of when they think of a golf lesson. Yes you have the professional to yourself but many can see that as an intimidating situation and one on one time with a qualified golf instructor is not always cheap.

Ladies Golf Classes – This is a popular way to take instruction especially for the beginners looking to learn the basics or fundamentals. As a student, you will want the instructor to student ratio to be at or below 6 to 1. Any more than that and the instructor will have a difficult time giving you any individual time at all. Again, this will go back to your goals and what you are looking to learn from the class. You may just be looking to get outside, get some exercise and meet some new people.

Ladies Golf Clinic – This is basically the same format as the class. It is simply another name for it and beginners tend to ask questions about the difference but they are essentially the same thing. Both formats are great for beginners, will cover the fundamentals and introduce you to others looking to play the game.

Online Ladies Golf Lesson – Many women use the internet to find and consume information. More and more of them are turning going online to find their golf instruction too. Many are reading articles, watching videos and watching ladies golf webinars to improve their game and have more fun.

Ladies Golf Webinars – This format is best for women that already use the internet to consume or learn content. The format of the webinar can vary. It may begin with a short presentation (that may be recorded or live) and then lead into audience question and answer period. The good part is that the participation part is on you and how comfortable that you feel participating in the group.

Best Ladies Golf Lessons – This is the $64 question right? Let me give you a hint…just because a golf tip worked for a friend or a co-worker that does NOT mean that it will work for you. We are all built differently and more importantly wired differently. We all have different learning styles that play a part into which cues will work for us. Keep in mind there is definitely more than one way to swing a golf club to produce a positive result.

Ladies Putting Lesson – Many ladies want to go to the driving range and immediately work on their full swing by pulling out their driver. Although hitting the ball a long way is sexy, the quickest way for you to lower your scores (especially when you are just learning the game) is to improve your putting.

Ladies Golf Instruction

In giving ladies golf instruction for many years now, I have heard over and over again how many of their husbands want to “help” them with their game. This is always kind of funny to me as the husbands know that the wives are paying for professional instruction. Sometimes, I am even standing right there! Okay before we beat up on the husbands too badly, I will say most of them do just want to help. I have found one simple little phrase that helps my students get rid of the extra help without making their spouse mad! It is simply…”That is exactly what I have been working on. Thank you.” The spouse feels good because they feel like they have helped and my student feels better because they can now practice!

With that being said, ladies golf instruction comes in many forms and will need to be in various forms depending on your goals and current skill level. Here are some suggestions:

Beginner Ladies Golf Instruction – If you are just starting to play golf…great! Even if you have enrolled in some ladies beginning golf clinics or lessons, there are a few things that I get asked about often that may not be covered. Many clinics do not cover topics such as how to make tee times, dress codes and tipping at the golf course.

Ladies Golf Webinar - No matter whether you are a new golfer or you have been playing for quite some time, a ladies golf webinar can not only help you to improve but also have more fun. Many ladies ask us what is covered in a session.

Ladies Putting Golf Instruction – Putting is not only a great way to learn the game but it becomes many ladies favorite part of the game. As the majority of the golf strokes taken during a round of golf occur on the putting green, it is an important part of the game. If you want to improve your handicap, improving your putting is the quickest way to have your golf scores come down. It really comes down to distance and direction.

Ladies Chipping Golf Instruction – Many ladies develop great short games due to the fact that many golf courses are very long for ladies or have many obstacles that women consciously “go around” as opposed attempting to play over them. Many are very good at chipping the ball in order to improve their scores and lower their handicap.

Ladies Golf Instruction Books – Different players learn in various ways. Some players like to learn by reading their golf lessons form a book. There are many very good instructional books available. Of course, there are the classics (Hogan’s Five Fundamentals, Practical Golf, etc.) and there are many written by female instructors targeted at the ladies market.

Ladies Golf Instruction Video or DVD – Assuming that nobody still knows where their VCR is located, we will assume that these are YouTube videos. If you are a visual learner, you may choose to watch videos at home, on your smart phone or tablet. This a great option with the caveat to do a little research into the instructors providing the information and making sure that they are credible. Anybody can and does upload video to YouTube.
